So I had to use a Spider Valve at a gig Saturday.

Post by The Hiryuu »

The 5150 I usually use crapped out, and would turn on but I couldn't get any sound out of it whatsoever for some reason. So out of desperation, I had to borrow a head from someone. Unfortunately, the only person who would lend me an amp had a Spider Valve. Beggars can't be choosers, I suppose, and the guy that lent it to me is awesome for doing so.

But surprisingly, it actually sounded pretty decent. (That may have had something to do with Blue [Rindgecore on HCAF] tweaking the tones quickly while setting up) I can't say the same for my playing that night, but meh.

Research shows: Four out of five Craigslist ads that say Bogner in the title actually contain a Spider Valve. :-bd
"If there was only a way that I couldn't even any less than I already can't then I'd gladly not, but I think I've entered some quantum paradox, dark matter levels of can't evening where the total absolute value of not evenness exceeds all ability to explain the can'ting." - MR RUBATO

That gut screaming is coming from that little girl? Shit.

I can't tell the guitar tone anyway, but sounds good for what it is?

I've never played one myself but I've seen lots of bands use them live and they always sounded good to me.

The Spider Valve is a fine amp, I've used it many times with no issues. I like the HK Switchblade better though, for that type of amp.

I usually avoid Line6 stuff like the bubonic plague, but a couple years back, my band was on tour with a couple other bands, and one of the guitarists in a modern/melodic black metal band was using a Spider valve. Sounded great on stage, lightyears better than any other Line6 amp I've heard.

They sound pretty good. Buddy of mine had one. Had to put it on the bench three different times. Grid resistors blew and then it blew a few caps in power supply.

Wut with the drums?

Sounds like the kicks are from a cheap drum machine and can't hear any of the other drums in the mix.......................

 I was going to say more like trying out a good pick up line on Miss Piggy, and having Cookie Monster's voice answer you back!

And yes, the drums sounded amazingly like a typewriter.

Other than that, couldn't hear shit for tone of ANYTHING! You coulda had a Triple Rec and I wouldn't have been able to tell.

Drums sound like a hamster wheel at 700bpm.

Im afraid of the vocalist. Im waiting for her to turn into Linda Blair and start chanting " Your mother sucks cocks in hell"

I gigged with a SV for a couple years. I always got pretty good tones from it. It wasnt completely reliable though. It blew tubes on numerous occasions.

I actually really like the shape of the sound from what I can hear. Sounds pretty mean but not over the top.
