Did the Gilmour fuzz trick last night for the first time

So that is where that tone is....

Ram's Head Big Muff clone boosted with my Green Rhino. Tried using my Guv'nor too, but it sucked as a Fuzz boost. Don't really have a Barber TubeDriver lying around to do it more authentically.

Anyway, the OD really cleaned up and EQ'ed the fuzz into that perfect "Pulse" solo sound. Not nearly as noisy as i anticipated it to be. Fat, sustainy love

Band. We are doing a Pink Floyd cover set.

Using my Gilmour Custom Shop Strat into my 2203 set up to a very slight breakup. I EQ the amp pretty dark for the Floyd Stuff.

i tried it a few ways. I ended up with these settings for Gilmour heaven. Basically setting up the OD just like a boost

Fuzz: Volume and Tone at 1:00. Sustain at 10:00 (you'd think the Muff would sound too shrill at these settings, but it works with this setup)

Green Rhino: Level maxed, tone at 11:00, Gain at 7:00 (almost off). Also added a bit of low end on the GR's EQ

ill try it, but it seems like with the CWM the harder you hit it, the more it ducks your signal. which i dont like too much. my violent arm movements should be reflected in sonic destruction, so i have to adjust volume knob a bit, tweak here, tweak there, blah blah. this makes me mad about fuzzes, but its the nature of the beast. and then theres the volume in a band issue. probably end up getting some hi wattage amp to blast fuzz one of these days. as it is, i pretty much ignore it as much as i dont want to and use my amps gain, which i truly love.

Yeah. I'm not a fuzz fan, but doing this PF thing, I gotta use one. Boosting the fuzz seems to really smooth it out and compress it enough to get more of a big fat distortion tone out of it. Think Comfortably Numb" solo on "Pulse"

this is why I like the Musket Fuzz, you have control over the input gain of the pedal so you can pretty much boost it internally.. and it does make a massive difference with the clarity
