Shockwave wrote:The voltage isn't what kills you its the current, usually you won't die from just a voltage hit, but if theres any draw on it all it takes is .1 amps really to kill you

Very high voltage and current through a body will cause physical trauma where as around .1 to .2 amps of current through your heart can cause potentially fatal arrythmias.

Kind of a stupid saying though.

Safe isolation tbh.

Been an electrician for five years, not been zapped once.

Though the day surely cometh ¬_¬

How did you end up getting zapped like that? Were you in the rain or something :freak:

He was sweaty. It danced all over him. Personally, i won't change Flos' while hot. Those ballasts put out a lot of voltage. It's like getting bit by a ignition coil. Which seriously fucking hurts.

It was about 105 degrees in a hallway with no AC on a ladder, the fixture was older and i couldn't line up the pins in the sockets right so i had fingers of each hand on either end of the 4 foot bulb trying to guide the pins in the socket all sweaty an voila ! I completed the circuit, the current ran from hand to hand across my chest ... not good. Voltage in a floruecent light is amplified, much more than 115v.

:nono:

Also, changing lamps when hot shouldn't be a problem if you isolate the circuit :cop:
