DSL or 5150 III?
I currently have a DSL50, but the 5150 III looks very intriguing. Would a trade be worthwhile, or does the DSL get me pretty much what the 5150 III will give me?

5150 3 all day every day. It's in a whole other league than the DSL 50 for high gain.
My collection:
Mesa (Mark IV long and short head, Mark III red and blue stripe, Dual Rec 2 channel Rev G and Tremoverb)
Marshall (2203x, 2203KK, DSL50, JVM410)
Peavey (Butcher, VTM 120, Ultra 120, 6505)
Odd balls (Splawn Quickrod and EVH 5150III)

Also the 5150 3 goes for around $1200 used, the DSL 50 goes for around $500

Re: DSL or 5150 III?
straight trade??? Hell yeah are you kidding me? Just on $ value alone....
If you have to add money... meh. I would probably go for a straight trade on a 5150 I or II in that case.

Re: DSL or 5150 III?
Lots of trade offers in the pipeline these days, but I am finding out that it isn't getting much past the initial offering phase. I have a few things working but until I actually get commitment from someone that it's a done deal; I keep my options open.
That being said, get the 5150III

No, it's not a straight trade. I haven't even started looking yet. I'm just contemplating it.

well the IDK. The 5153 is way more expensive.... if I was looking for the 5150 tone I'd go with a 5150 I or II on a straight trade and not spend any extra $. Unless you really need the flexibility of 3 independent channels.

The 5153 is much more palatable for a Marshall user though. I can't stand the 5150 or 5150II, but i LOVE the 5153. especially the blue channel

This! I had a Peavey 6505 and didn't really gel with it.

Do it !
Re: DSL or 5150 III?
After a little research, I think I can squash this idea. I was reading on a forum where someone said you can find used 5150III's for $500-$600. But, after looking around, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The 50w can be had for $700ish if you look around.

IMO, DSL's are great amps, but I would take a 5150 3 over it all day long.

yeah the 100w goes for around a grand used, which is why I was saying I am not sure if it's worth the $ difference.
I don't like the 50w 5153 as much as the 100w tbh
