6505 owners........how good is the Crunch channel.......
for rock?
Yeah, yeah I know....."Why do you want a 6505 to play rock???"
The amp was designed for Eddie so I'm curious.
Now that's outta the way, I can't find any vids of the 6505 playing anything else but metal. I know I shouldn't be surprised but is this amp only capable of balls to the wall metal?
This is the only vid I can find of a 6505 owner not playing metal.

Yeah the sound quality is bad but watcha gonna do.
So it is a stupid choice to get a 6505 to play rock?

Re: 6505 owners........how good is the Crunch channel.......
The crunch channel is the best part of the amp.... You can use that amp as a single channel amp and just use your volume knob for cleans.. it's what EVH did... the "5150 for metal" Thing is a more recent (00's) thing... it was considered a hard rock amp until that point... there are tons of vids of the amp being used for rock, but I think you will have better luck if you search for 5150 instead of 6505.. also any recent Ted Nugent live video is 100% 5150...

Yeah I sorta guessed that if I do get 6505, I would live on the crunch channel and set it for a 800 type tone and gain level and boost it with a pedal.

The 6505+ crunch is seriously good. I would get the + if you're considering buying. You'll get footswitchable crunch. I also think the + crunch and lead sound better than the original (after owning both), but that's subjective of course.

Boosted crunch channel is awesome for hard rock, I don't really even find the lead channel to be useful in comparison. The crunch channel is way thicker

I think the crunch absolutely crushes.
All B/M/T set 6/6/6 gain, pres, and res to taste.
Finding out that crunch is footswitchable on the + models just put me into full on GAS mode. Didn't realize this.
FUCK.
Also I'm with the +/II models sounding better.

Re: 6505 owners........how good is the Crunch channel.......
IMO the +/II are tighter and just tonally better. Its been so long since I did a direct comparison I don't recall why other than tightness I preferred the +/II.

Re: 6505 owners........how good is the Crunch channel.......
I read somewhere that Jerry of FJA said that the crunch on the 5150/6505 goes through all 6 gain stages whereas the crunch on the 5150II/6505+ go through only 3 gain stages.
