My fellow GW forumers would recognize this topic, it was one of the longest thread we've ever had, and it didn't need a sticky, as it was a self-sustaining thread.
With the exception of the Stealth and a few select Blue Voodoos and Clubs, most of what they had to offer is shitty.

their solid state combos were fucking tanks for simple practice amps, the old gx's i think. take a pod, or any preamp for that matter put it in the poweramp insert bypassing the amps pre, you're set. it was bright as fuck, but it did the job, and you cut above the band.

They started out making ugly, bad-sounding SS amps, and only got into the market for ugly, bad-sounding tube amps later. By the time they started making decently-built, good -sounding tube amps for good prices (i.e. Vintage Club Series, V series, Blackheart), their name was irreparably soiled for a lot of people.
"If there was only a way that I couldn't even any less than I already can't then I'd gladly not, but I think I've entered some quantum paradox, dark matter levels of can't evening where the total absolute value of not evenness exceeds all ability to explain the can'ting." - MR RUBATO
They had a few gems but mostly thin buzzy sounding chainsaws

I have a crate 1x12 cab that I enjoy. Came stock with a K100, which costs more that what I paid for the loaded cab. My drummer has a palomino, which I've used for rehearsal before. Not a bad amp. Bish gets stupid hot though.
LOL the topic that would never die! agree that the palamino/V series amps weren't bad at all. i hade a V32 and the cleans were awesome. the dirt channel got way to dark sounding once you turned the gain up past basic blues. the Voodoo amps aren't bad either. as for most of the rest well they are about as good as a BC Rich rave series warlock.
Any crate I've ever played looked and sounded like shit. They are like the evil peavey. Peaveys and crates both look like shit and are mad cheap, but peaveys sound great, Crates sound like Blue doodoo
