So seriously, what the heck happened!?!?

Post by butterguitar »

I took some time off from the forum because things were just getting really stale and boring. I log in last week (for the first time in months) and read the forum is going under a new layout change. I thought to myself- oh boy the end is near. I just knew they wouldn't listen to their hardcore members.

It's quite sad to what HCAF and the whole board has come to.

Hopefully this forum stays afloat Billy! The members of HCAF were/are one of kind down to earth dude (most of them at least)

I'll do anything, but post at rigtalk... ANYTHING lol

Yeah, instead of learning from the HC 2.0 debacle and just fixing the forum and leaving it alone, they decided to change everything again. :?

I really hope this takes off too, it would be really sad to disband the whole HCAF community just because of MF corporate greed. :(

It's a darn shame, but AFAIK they couldn't scale HC, hence the continual failures.

Thanks for setting this up, Billy.

The new layout is total fail. The 2.0 jive disaster immediately came to mind. Lot of issues.. One huge issue for example is what's with thread titles taking 3-4 lines due to taking up room on the right with "top tags" and "new solutions". Would have been good practical joke format to put on for a day and they'd turn on the real layout the next day...

Thanks to Billy for creating this forum. Or should i say "Kudos" This site has a good layout.

Even with rushing the new format out, you'd think they could have taken a few days to at least make the layout usable instead of rolling that disaster out and THEN trying to make it not horrible. Except it was horrible.

I'm sorry, I don't want to have to use greasemonkey to make a website not cause eye bleeding.

I don't know the constraints they were under, but holy fuck the "solution" was to take a non-functioning forum people wanted to be on and gave us a functioning forum no one wants to be on.

Hopefully more people come here and this becomes a vibrant thriving community. :)

I don't normally wish anyone or anything ill will but I find myself hoping HC dies a horribly, lonely death, pathetic. Does that make me a bad person?

If it does, then I'm one bad man motherfucker right next to you. Anderton's condescending "eat shit and like it, losers. My articles are what makes this place, not you" was the last straw. Fuck that place.

*bleep*

Fucking A. I used to feel sorry for him, thinking he was squeezed between users and management, but it turns out he's just as bad as management. And that whole bullshit argument about the site being mostly about pro reviews and industry news releases was absolute horseshit. The "pro" reviews are written by a bunch of industry shills and insiders and have zero credibility (as opposed to, oh, I don't know -- actual users?!?) and corporate news releases have even less credibility.

That's what you're betting the farm on? Good fucking luck.

I've spent a lifetime in communications and public relations and no amount of explaining, hectoring, badgering, pleading, condescending or spinning will make people accept change. Any change needs to meet the users' expectations and needs. If it doesn't, they typically won't accept it and will look elsewhere.

Hence this forum. :) Good on you billy.

I used to be really active in HCAF but the 2.0 debacle put me right off.

Made a new account last month, forgot about it, went back today....HOLY BEJEEZUS WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY DONE? If you described the concept of a discussion forum over a crackly phone line to a blind Native American who'd never used a computer, they'd probably do a better job.

Don't know who put this place together, but it's so much nicer to look at and use. All we need is another EVH photoshop thread, maybe some astronaut avatars, and it's just like the old days.

When you can't get to what you want on any website in less than 3 or 4 mouseclicks, you get annoyed, that goes for web forums, shops, anything. this is what's happened to HC. oh fucking well, their loss of fans was their own fault. bye bye HC
