Pink Floyd -Time Solo Video Cover (Kemper)

Post by gibson5413 »

I have always loved this tune and the solo. This solo from Gilmour is easily in my top 5 solos of all time. I used my Anderson Classic nicknamed "Gilmourish". Love this guitar!

I performed two takes:

- The first was a profile called Time Solo. It does a pretty good job of simulating the original tone.
- The second was one from The Amp Factory of the HiWatt DR103 called HiWatt Full. I added some reverb and delay to this one.

Again, the first one was more trying to get close to the original tone. The second one was the base amp with a much more clean signal that allows you to hear the guitar a bit more. Either way, it was fun to play this tune and show off my take.

Let me know if you have any questions or just leave your thoughts either way.

Nice job! Although the first profile approximates the original better, I prefer the 2nd Hiwatt profile. It's a much cleaner, uncluttered sounding tone to my ears.

Sounds pretty good. The first one was a little too grainy/gainy compared to the original.

Overall great playing, maybe sounds a little forced at times.

I dont know... the original is certainly very fuzzy/grainy, but it's soaked in a light echo and sits in the mix in a way that it stands out. Listening to his various live recordings and boots, he definitely goes fart and fuzzy on that solo.

But i do agree, the Hiwatt sounds great and better suited for what i like. Just don't think the first one is far off from the original, tone-wise.

I like the second one best. Gotta use that trem for the vibrato to do the Gilmour!!

Thanks guys! I, too, like the profile used for take 2 as well. I like cleaner tones but the first one was created to give more of that fuzz tone Gilmour used on the original.

In regards to using the trem, the guitar isn't setup for a float. Next time I change strings I am going to float the trem a bit. Thanks!

That was fucking sweet. I should learn that one, but I don't own a single coil guitar... I guess I'll have to fix that.
