Somewhat, though my interest tends to not hold on that much in the usual discussions.

Dig. I'm not really interested in the flame-style "debate" approach to the topic any more, believe it or not. That part of me seems to have died with HCAF, lol. Just wanted to see if there would be any interest in any sort of actual conversations in the general category, y'know?

I feel ya, mang. I'd honestly be much more inclined to debate in person. I hate reading lengthy things on a computer screen. But, if you're just trying to feel out whether there would be any debate if you posted a thread, I may chime in, but I probably wouldn't fully engage, gnome sayin.

Yeah, I'm no longer interested in the flame-war approach, either, but would be down for some open conversation.

Cool, this is encouraging, y'all! :-bd

We are all living in the Matrix now... :)

Now this is getting interesting. Let's take that further. How can god be considered omniscient if he can't know about things that he doesn't/can't know about? Isn't it just as reasonable to think it possible that yahweh is in a matrix himself, put there by a greater god with a greater reality that yahweh has no knowledge of? Yahweh would then be passing on his skewed perspective of "reality" to us, making him not omnipotent, omniscient, or even that great of a god at all. Hmmm. Maybe it's time for a new thread. :hmm:

Not to get srs or nuthin', but that's pretty much what many of the Gnostic sects concluded ~ that the creator of this world, the Demiurge in their terminology, was essentially a very powerful but not omnicient being who was unaware of his lack of omniscience, mistaking himself for the ultimate ("true"?) godhead and demanding to be worshipped in order to salve his innate insecurities. That's how this particular flavor of Gnosticism accounted for what they saw as irreconcilable differences between the God depicted in the OT (which they decided was the Demiurge) and the God attested by Christ Jesus in the NT.

(Note: I am not here arguing for or against that particular perspective; just spelling it out because it struck me as interesting how neatly it parallels what you wrote. :) )

I'm not arguing either. I think it will be pretty obvious when either of us are ready to argue. :D
These are fun thought experiments, and I'm always down for discussing them. Especially if they are consciousness raising in the sense that I hadn't though of a particular perspective before. :thu:

Ummm, I majored in philosophy in college....does that count?

I'm not going to debate that madness online though. If anyone is in Kansas City and wants to drink beer and talk about Foucault, then I'm down.

Btw, missingagstring...I bought a bare knuckles tell pickup from you in Houston about 3 years ago. I was the guy whose car was spewing radiator fluid everywhere. How have you been?
Shit that I own:
Amps: Mesa Mark III Red Stripe; Peavey 5150; Peavey VTM 60; Budda SD18; Dr. Z Carmen Ghia; Boss Katana; Mesa 400+; Darkglass Microtubes 900; Genx-Benz G-Flex; Marshall 4x12 w/Greenbacks; Peavey 4x12 w/G12K-85's
Guitars/Basses: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro; Gibson Les Paul Studio; Ibanez Prestige RGA121; Balaguer Hyperion; Schecter Custom Shop Traditional; Schecter C-1 Platinum; Homebrew Tele; Composit Acoustics GXi; Warwick FNA; Peavey Cirrus 5; Rickenbacker 4003
