Will be used with my iPad 2 and possibly N-Tracks or if I spring for it Auria. Budget is under $350.

The Apogee stuff always sounds great. I'd just go with it. Especially at this budget, I doubt you'd find something that sounds better.

My experience with interfaces is that they're pretty much at the same level until you get to the $1k+ range. I am currently using a Steinberg that was like $300 and it's fine. I've tried a few interfaces costing more than twice as much and didn't notice much difference, if any.

Then my buddy let me borrow his RME Fireface and it was like night and day. I was shocked how much better everything sounded.

So unless you are able to buy a real top-of-the-line interface, keep it cheap/simple IMHO.

The One should be good - especially since you want to use it on the iPad as well.

edit -

just to add all my stuff is done with just an Apogee Duet. I don't use outboard preamps at all anymore and I'm happy with the results. :thu:

NI Komplete Audio 6? Although you can't really go wrong with the Apogee.
