I pretty much have removed the GCX from the signal chain. I just ran YOUR Charvel into my Big Muff Pi (w/tone wicker) tone disengaged and wicker off...into a Boss OC2...into that delay that Dolf gave me. (Forgive me, HCAF deleted my shit and I can't go back and get deets...Maybe Ej?)....into my Carbon copy....into the clean channel of my Herbert (with midcut OFF).

All analog signal path.

Just thought about it...I played a Charvel I got from Dave (Rickybobby, Chucknutz) and also my Gibby LP Jr with P90's last night. I didn't rout out my Charvel for 90's. lol

That said...How noisy was it?

Not bad. I don't think they're very noisy at all.

I really LOVE them into my TrainWreck clone. THAT is the sound of rock and roll.

Here's a few pics of both guitars...

As a member of the GAB old guard (i.e an old person), I have to say that I am always amused at the need/obsession for dead quiet gear - back in my teenage years every damn thing was noisy, even humbuckers. Not the pickups themselves, but there was always something in the signal chain that introduced noise and we just kind of dealt with it - THAT was the sound of rock and roll. Oh yeah, and get off of my lawn.

Oh yeah. Definitely.

That guitar is wired to be in phase switched mag polarity when in the middle position. So when both pickups are on it's essentially a humbucker.

Well that gibby, in humbucker mode. Is WAYYYYY more noisy going into the front of my TW with nothing but a volume pedal between them than it is with only the bridge pickup going into a big muff and octaver and into the Diezel.

I'll let you guess which is more rock and roll...and which is more garage/doomy. And which has "better tone".

Horses for courses.

oh, I'm not complaining at all. I love rock and roll and I love garage/doom (see my Ty Segall thread for garage rock). I'm just amused because of my long-ago experiences with noisy equipment, both as a performer and a fan. But for me, P90s, a fuzz and a cranked amp are nirvana. Somewhere in the 15 years that I was out of music, everything became high-gain, low noise... :| (I really dislike these smilies)

I didn't think you were complaining. And I'm right with you.

Sometimes I want an over the top, German hifi, super-processed sound for banging out Rammstein covers.

And sometimes I want a vintagey feeling old school rock and roll amp with mostly power amp distortion for rocking out on older songs.

You AREN'T going to find one amp which does both at 100%. You HAVE to have multiple amps to do it properly.

I really liked messing with dual delays and a fuzz over an octave. Really a fun time.

Cool - understand completely. And you are correct about the horses for courses bit - you really need the gear to match your sound. But...for me...P90s and a noisy-ass fuzz/amp - they are just like the good old times...rock and/or roll :D (hmm...still don't like these smilies)

1) Wouldn’t it be wonderful if pussies were detachable? … Some crazy guy jumps out of the bushes, all like, ‘Aaah,’ and you’re like, ‘Uh-uh, left it at home!’

2) I’m walking in New York with my boyfriend, and he says, ‘Gee, it’s a beautiful night, let’s go down by the river.’ I said, ‘What are you, nuts? I’m not going down by the river! It’s midnight, I’m wearing jewelry, I’m carrying money, I have a vagina with me…’

3) So he thought that I thought there were sexual predators running up and down the halls of the resort where I was staying, and that all the management decided to do, instead of springing for some security, was just to run down to the local Kinko’s and run off some shoddy, low-rent sign that just said, ‘No moleste.’

4) I was raped by a doctor, which is so bittersweet for a Jewish girl.

5) Hello! Insurance is my game, Larry is my name! Raping is another game of mine. Have you considered–hello?

6) The Hammurderer is quickly becoming regarded as the worst-received advertising mascot since Kool-Aid’s 1989 discontinuation of ‘The Grapist,’ a huge purple monster who sodomizes thirsty children.

7) Joining us now are Megan’s parents… With a daughter so pretty, one can’t help but assume that she’s being raped.
http://www.theonion.com/video/missing-g ... /?ref=auto

8) I’m pretty sure if I sat down with a woman who’s been [raped], and I said, ‘Can you describe what this was like, going through this?’ she’s not gonna look at me and go, ‘Have you ever played Halo?’

9) I wouldn’t have killed Hitler, I would have raped him, that’s what I thought. Because I think that would have been enough. I think that would have stopped him from doing all that shit. If he had been raped by me, he never would have pulled any of that stuff. ‘Should we invade Poland?’ ‘Nah, I just want to take a shower. I don’t feel good.’

10) I feel like that should be a game show, like, ‘Here’s your raaaaaape! It’s loud in the club and the music’s bumpin’, and you went to the restroom–uh-oh, time out! You forgot to put that cardboard thing over your drink! Here’s your raaaaaaape!’

11) “I need more rape jokes,” she shouted nasally before letting her fans in on what she called a comedy secret, that such jokes are actually not so “edgy” after all. “Who’s going to complain about rape jokes? Rape victims?” she asked. “They barely even report rape.”

Happy? 11 rape jokes.
