Plankton. Most perfect Strat > Fuzz Face > Plexi tone of all time. Here is them doing a killer version of Take 5 (though its mostly clean tones):

Unfortunately youtube doesn't have much of their stuff. But some of their albums are on Spotify.

Re: Unknown Tone, Who's Your Favorite?
I saw Brubeck maybe 5 years ago. He was so frail and tiny.
Until he got behind that piano.
Then he was a giant.
He and his band were performing with a choir a ex-GF was in. He came out and did like five of his tunes. Then the choir came out and backed him up on a bunch of spiritual/religious numbers.
Man it was fucking heavy. And exhausting.

Not that these guys are unknown but not a bunch is said about Storm Corrosion. I love that solitary sad guitar tone that Wilson and Akerfeldt pull together.

Yeah, Plankton his sick tones. I've never heard of them. That's perfect Stratocaster sound. Right on the edge of all the dynamics.

Re: Unknown Tone, Who's Your Favorite?
Its sort of unfair how perfect their Strat tone is.

Strat into a four-holer is a recipe for raunchy winning.

Phil will always be my favorite SNL Alum.
That pic is from the scene where he is drunk on the plane yelling at the stewardesses.

I keep coming back in here to listen to those Strat Tones.
They are perfect.
Re: Unknown Tone, Who's Your Favorite?
I have a lot of favorites, but as far as strat tones go this album always does it for me.
This also happens to be a fucking masterpiece of jamology - that harmonica player is possibly the best I've ever heard

Devin, that's good stuff.
Hey, you're in La.. Have you seen Anders Osborne? He's based in NOLA.
One of my close friends turned me on to him a while ago and I am still completely blown away.

Re: Unknown Tone, Who's Your Favorite?
I've heard of him but never caught a show - New Orleans is actually damn near 3 hours from where I live so I only get down there a couple times a year at most.
Last time I went I saw O'Brother, Animals as Leader and Thrice, which was pretty damn awesome.

Nola and Austin are on my shortest list of places to go.
I've got to go feel all that Mojo.

Love Brubeck.
I'm probably a little biased here, but Dudley Taft can do it all.
