Rust In Peace be my fave Degameth album, & Friedman is just a great metal lead player, IMO had a cool sense of melody & style, kept leads from being the same ol thing.
Anyhow, havent really thought about him much, but started wondering what hes up to. What I found of his studio stuff didnt really catch my interest, but I found this live thing & thought it was kinda cool. Check it out if youre so inclined. Great live sound, great clarity & mix!

Re: Marty Friedman
marty is an all time great lead player but the man never wrote a riff or song that meant shit to this world. Pretty much just like broderick. amazing players and absolute virtuosos but they are void of any originality and inspiration when they write tunes.

I have this on DVD. I absolutely love it. I am a bit of a fan though I have all of his studio albums.

Also a huge Rust in Peace fan.... Totally and utterly disagree with the people who say his playing is emotionless (and I'm more of an emotion-shred fan than insane-technical-shred fan).
Marty has been deep in Japanese culture - his most recent (i think) album is metal covers of J-pop... listen to the first song and then his cover - it's awesome.

WAT
The leads Marty wrote on Rust in Peace are amazing. The melody, phrasing, and playing is great. It really adds to the alum and those leads are some of the catchiest solos in thrash. His lead playing is so good that I find enjoyable moments on Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, and Cryptic Writings while the albums as a whole are inconsistent at best. I don't know how you can say he isn't original. His playing is instantly recognizable to me.
