FNG F'ng new guy. Hello.

Post by givemeguitar »

Howdy from BC!

This is my first stab at being apart of any kind of forum. I joined today to pick some brains about speaker identification. I have been reading up on the basics, but I cant seem to get all the information I am looking for.I know Ill have a lot more to talk about than just that, but thats what got me here in the first place.

Im a young and childish 34yr old man. 2 kids. One wife. More cheap old ragged amps than I know what to do with. I have lots of projects I want to do with them, but dont have enough time or knowledge to get half of them rolling. I love old junker made in Canada transistor amps. I have a couple Garnet stencils (the real deal is hard to find), a couple Stage (made by Unichord/Univox), a few Traynors, a Sunn, and one badass little Fender Bronco.

Thats about all I can say for now.....

Thanks!

Ha! I have you beat... I'm 53 but, I act like I'm 11 so, I look like I'm 40! :zomby:

What kind of Sunn amp do you have and do you want to part with it?
I really miss my Sunn Sentura II

Its a Sunn Concert Lead. I would hate to part with it, but everything has its price......
I am still yet to sort out how to make the distortion, and reverb function. They both have RCA hookups at the back, but I am not familiar with how to make that kind of setup work. I have been told to plug in RCA cables to them and touch one of the ends to a piece of metal or something like that. This was going to be one of questions I was going to put out there. I just want to hear from a few more people before I decided to do something like that.

Thanks for the reply!

Is there a post already out there for me to post pictures of the speakers I am trying to figure out?

Nice Concert Lead!!!

The rca jacks on the back should be for on/off foot switches for the distortion and reverb.
Who ever told you to hook up an rca cable to the jack and touch the other end to a piece of metal is a whack job! Doing that won't tell you a thing AND you could damage your amp!
What you can do, (if the reverb and distortion knobs don't seem to be working) is plug one end of a rca cale into one of the verb jacks & plug the other end of the cable into the other verb jack - this will complete the circuit (like hitting an on switch) and if the amp is working correctly, you will hear verb. Do the same for the distortion.

I'm looking for a Sentura II or a 100S - both models were made exactly the same way but, they came with different speaker cabinets.
Sunn gave different model numbers to the same heads if they were sold with different cabinets.
Thanks for the photo and the reply!!!
