Congrats to the Red Sox and to you Sox fans.

You have a damn good team and the black hole that is the bottom of our lineup combined with the Card's manager's questionable decisions regarding how long to leave his starters pretty much insured the Sox were going to win.

Maybe we'll get a rematch next year (hopefully with someone on the left side of the infield that can you know, actually HIT THE DAMN BALL AND GET ON BASE).

Two very evenly matched teams. Probably one of the most competitive series I have ever seen.

At the end of the day, the difference was that....

....We have David Ortiz.

He played unconscious and has proven himself to be about as clutch as it will ever get.

Your Cardinals are very young. You guys have a much better chance of going back next year than we do.

After Game 3 I'm not sure why they didn't walk Ortiz every time he was up. A guy can't hit .700 against you if you won't let him swing the bat.

Yup, it was a fun ride and while I wish they'd won I for the most part enjoyed it.

Should be an interesting off-season and looking forward to next year! Hopefully Craig will be 100% because while he's no Ortiz or anything, dude is a legit hitter and you could just see him struggling on the bases so bad.

They need to get Adams on a strict diet and exercise program and get him to lose about 40lbs from his gut. I think he can be a decent player and hopefully a good power hitter, but even a hitter as good as Prince Fielder is hobbled a bit by being a fat tub.

Ah, what a year.

That kid Adams just came up this season, right? They definitely will get him ripped this offseason.

I also heard that your Cardinals are so young, their best players aren't even eligible for arbitration. That's insane. Low payroll, young team under control for years and shedding even more payroll this off-season.

This was a learning experience for the young Cards. Look the fuck out for the next few seasons. You guys should shred the NL.

But, as we both know, the World Series is a different animal.

Yup he was a rookie this year. It was nuts.

Rookies or 2nd year off the top of my head:
Wacha
Adams
Martinez
Rosenthal (2nd yr)
Kelly (2nd yr)
Wong (who gaffe aside, if he learns to hit .260 and get on base > .370 will be great at 2nd and let Carpenter go back to 3rd)
Miller (who had dead arm and not sure why he was on the roster since he couldn't really pitch)

I'm pretty sure there was more but yeah, I'm excited for the future!

I guarantee there isn't even one organization in the Majors that wouldn't trade places with them in a hot minute.

As stoked as I am for my the World Series win, I am even happier that Ben Cherington is taking the Sox back to being a Farm System powerhouse.

Just like your Cards.

I'm glad the Red Sox one, since I'm a terribly unfortunate Cubs fan who can't root for the Cardinals

That said, I'm not really liking this "haven't clinched in Fenway in however many years" angle that the media is running with. Almost makes it feel like just winning it wasn't good enough.

I felt terrible for Wong after he got picked off. But, I think that was a real turning point after the bizarre ending the night before. It re-equalized things or something. Just like the night before, I blinked and the game was over.

I was like WTF just happened :freak: :D

I could hear the tears in his voice. Poor kid.

I know, I felt sick for him. Total rookie mistake that a vet took advantage of.

Paul(Schweezly), yeah, I don't get that angle either. I mean, yeah, its cool to clinch at home, but hell, winning the WS anywhere is pretty damn special in my book.

Oh, and lol Cubs fans. ;)

Well, it's not like the whole Fenway thing was pre-ordained. We, as a region, have been lamenting it since 2004 and 2007. Thankfully, it worked out. Winning the series is great. Doing it at home makes it just a bit sweeter. With all the heartbreak that has taken place there, it feels like a bit of vindication for the old bandbox.

As a Cubs fan(LOL), wouldn't you rather see them do it in the Ivy confines of Wrigley?

Of course I would. I get why people are happy about it, but it's been the main story for the last 3-4 days. Hell, they talked to some 88 year old dude in the stands because he'd been going for 50 years and never saw them clinch at home.

I just think it's silly that the media was making it sound like its this huge drought...when they'd won twice this decade.

Either way I'm happy Boston won.

This. I thought they'd have enough of a feel-good-puff-piece thing with the whole marathon bombing and rallying behind the Red Sox afterward thing.

Right, exactly. With the perfect ending....

.....The Red Sox winning it at home not far at all from the where the bombs went off.
