More bad luck. Totaled the car yesterday. Also New Car Day.

Post by Loop Bizkit »

Me and the wife and kids were going to a horse ranch to take the kids horseback riding.

Country road. Stop Sign.

I thought it was a 4-way. It wasn't. My fault.

We got hit, HARD. 1 foot behind where my oldest daughter was sitting. My God, so close to her. Destroyed the back of our 2010 Altima, and did some pretty hefty damage to the other car.

Miraculously, nobody was hurt, even though we were hit so hard we spun about 200 degrees and were thrown about 20 feet skidding. Kids/wife/myself, and the folks in the other car....not even a scratch or a bruise. Police were really nice, no ticket issued.

Car is totaled.

While we're waiting for the insurance check, which is looking like it'll be about $4000 more than we owe on the car, we found a killer deal on a 2012 GMC Terrain AWD today. 23K miles, belonged to my wife's father who bought it in late 2011. They were about to trade it in, and we're just paying them what they owe on it, which is bout $4k more than the dealership would give them on a trade, and about $5K less than this one sells for in KBB/on the lot. So, we get a deal better than we could at a dealer, and they get more than they would on trade. Everybody wins.

It's loaded too. GPS/Touchscreen/Pioneer stereo, Moonroof, red stitched black leather....totally killer ride.

I'm still just so grateful my family's ok. I'm almost 35, and this is my first accident. I was crazy shook. Scary stuff.

Sorry about your accident. I'm glad that it looks like everything has turned out alright. Just watch out for spine injuries for you and your family. Sometimes these take a few days to notice. You can carry more gear in that Terrain, so there's that. South Florida drivers are crazy, everyone's had an accident by 35, be grateful that you live in Ft. Wayne where people drive normal. It would take me minutes to count the number of accidents I've been in, most not my fault. Your insurance will go up some, just don't get any tickets and it'll start to drop before you know it.

He thought it was a four way, so I guess he pulled out when a car was coming.

Lol, I'd rather it was the BMW. That was the car that was next to be replaced, until this happened!

Shockingly, I'm not sore at all. Just rattled. We're on the freeway right now, and Dana is driving. I think I'll be pretty skittish getting behind the wheel for a few days.

Aw, than that sucks.

That is shocking. I've only been in a few minor fender benders (I was only driving for one of them) and felt like I played a football game the day after.

I've never been in a car accident, but was in a "hard landing" in a helo which beat me up pretty good lol. Crushed the landing gear and bottomed it out. Luckily I was belted in which was unusual for me. I always figured if we went down I'd die regardless and never wore my harness.

well that sucks.... but at least no one was hurt and you were able to get a "new" vehicle quickly! I have to say though the damage on the car doesn't look that bad, unless there's more happening that the picture can't really show...

Damn dude. I've had my car totaled, but I didn't have any kids with me. That would rattle me for a while. Glad you're all okay!

Glad everyone is ok - and it's good for you that you didn't get a ticket.

If I was the other driver, though - I'd be pissed if somebody pulled out in front of me and didn't get a ticket.
