I understand wanting to be someplace new where some of your iFriends are hanging out, but why the animosity?

Currently there is no way to tell how many people are browsing any forum on HC3.
Unless there is some setting or Chrome extension/app that I need to download to see this?

I don't know, maybe because Anderton showed his ass over there and basically said that his articles and the videos made that website, and the only worth the forumites had were traffic numbers to make them more money?
Do you have a link to that? I would like to read it.

I read that.
It came across as the forum traffic was only a very minor part of what HC was all about and that the only part of HC that was of any value was the articles on the site.
I don't think he meant it to be offensive but he was certainly pissed off when he posted it.
It didn't bother me too much but I remember thinking that it was a bit offhand on his part - particularly when the HC3 looked/looks like shit and long term members had to use new accounts etc.

Don't take my question the wrong way, I believe you. I was just curious to read it myself.

Re: Things looking better on HC every day.
I honestly think that the word filter drove me away. I can deal with the layout, but I am not a gatdamned child, and neither was anyone else. We don't need to be censored just because it improves Musician Friend's bottom line. It used to be a pretty cool community, and now it is a damned church potluck. I like this place better. And I also like my new handle better.
Shit that I own:

Re: Things looking better on HC every day.
I think it was the bleep thread. I'm pretty sure it was a direct response to Billy if I'm not mistaken.

Murdoch wrote:Dude. They bleeped "crap". They bleeped "FTW", which doesn't even imply cursing.
Not condoning the bleeping. It was stupid, but FTW also stands for F The World.

madrigal77 wrote:Also it was SUPER cool of Billy to set this place up for us. He's spent a lot of time and I'm sure expense getting this all running, just so we could have a nice place to hang out. I want to support him and this forum as much as I can. I'd rather post here than give HC ANY traffic.
Quoted for truth!
Question, how do we/can we support this place? It isn't like there are links to just click on for traffic revenue... or am I blind to interweb page "noise" now?

Re: Things looking better on HC every day.
Nah, even if they change the looks, that forum interface is crap. MF ran that place into the ground.
Fuck change...keep it simple.

I agree with the bolded. The language filter is pretty bad. I know they have the ability to customize that. They could filter out things like racial slurs, and let the adult language pass.

I do like Mark Wein's forum, and that seems to be where a lot of the HCEG crew has gone.

ETA: Maybe change the setting so links open in a new window/tab instead of taking the place of this page. That is a tip.

Unless there's another post I'm unaware of or have forgotten about, it's not at all what he said.
Listen up. The content side of Jive got 5 MILLION HITS in the last full month it was operational. There are videos that have gotten tens of thousands of views, and articles that have are about to break six digits of views. The newsletter has a higher circulation that many music magazines. Pro Reviews get hundreds of thousands of views. That's what I'm in charge of. There are two types of content on this site, the forums and the articles/videos/reviews. Some read the articles and don't hit the forums, some go into the forums and don't read the articles, some take advantage of both.
Just because you're not interested in the content produced by the editors doesn't mean hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of people, aren't.
As to your claim that Google flagged us for offensive content and shut down ads is ridiculous, why don't you contact Google and ask for a copy of their standards, and what they do with sites that sites that don't meet their standards with respect to serving up their ads. Then come back and tell me I'm being ridiculous.
I'm not giving you excuses, I'm telling you either what I've experienced personally, or what I'm told. I'm trying to tell you what's happening. It's a wasted effort.
That was in response to Billy, in a rather dick-ish fashion, claiming that the users are the ones that produce the content, which in terms of the forum would be correct. But as Anderton pointed out, that's not the content he was referring to; his role is in the other non-forum half of HC, which is not as insignificant as a lot of forum-only users probably think.
To go see the post and others in context (the context being: Everyone getting on his fucking case for no fucking reason):
http://www.harmonycentral.com/t5/Amps/Here-s-the-Deal-with-the-Bleep-Thing-Yes-It-Sucks-but-for-More/td-p/34662058
He never said, "the only worth the forumites had were traffic numbers to make them more money." In fact later he said quite the opposite; that the content side of the site is largely what supports the forums (I guess the other part being shitty banner ads).

Re: Things looking better on HC every day.
Murdoch wrote:Oh, I didn't take it the wrong way. I wish I DID have a link to give you, because Anderton really, really came across as a condescending ass in the posts he was making. I'd say there's a chance that Scotty is right in the fact that he might not have necessarily MEAN to come across as offensive, but he was definitely pissed off, and as such, came across as a supreme douchebag. I could probably find it, but I don't want to give them the web hit.
IIRC, maybe it was the bleep thread? If not that one, then I have no idea.
The douchebaggery was everyone aimlessly piling shit on to him when he's not even the one who has control over what's happening. He was just there trying to explain shit and direct people to the feedback forum instead of whining like fuckwitted little bitches on the amp forum. "Ner... we don't give a shit about your reviews and other content." Surprise surpise, ladies... you're not the centre of the universe!

Still no idea how many people are on any of the forums at HC3 as they aren't providing any numbers.
The GJ and amp forums are like a tomb that's for sure.
The only way to get any idea of the user activity is using this, which does not make for pleasant reading.

Certainly the activity is down, but when your link is showing 6 and 4 posts for yesterday and the day before, you know it is not indexing the correct activity.

That's cool.Just thought it was fair since there were several posts on HC about this forearm. Someone in this thread even mentioned still going to HC to message others about this place. Oh well.
The emoticons are awesome over here btw.
The emoticons are indeed excellent, but then so is the overall layout and colour scheme of this site

The same can't be said for HC3 and the real question that should be asked is why that is the case?
I'm assuming that a lot of cash was splashed out to Lithium and the net result was substandard (to put it kindly)
Don't get me wrong. I have no axe to grind and I do still occasionally post on HC3 but it really is hard going over there.
I have noticed a definite slowing down of the response time over there. It just doesn't seem to as slick as it was on day one - and it seems to be getting worse.
