FX Loop PTP Build

Post by liam5150 »

Hey Guys,

I want to add an FX loop to my 2204 clone that i built.

I have a schematic for a parallel loop and all the parts ready to go.

My question is: What would be the best type of board to construct it on?

I have seen this http://www.maplin.co.uk/stripboard-1918 or there is the tag boards that Cornford and Vox use like http://www.ampmaker.com/store/images/tb03a.jpg

Anyother ideas of what would work best, if anyone else here has done this i would love to see some examples

Thanks!

What circuit are you planning on building? I prefer to make my own turret boards for the most part.

I agree, it's easier to make your own turret/eyelet board to conform to the chassis and layout you already have in place. With a couple of standoffs you can suspend it above your existing board if need be.

Is the schematic online anywhere? I am a bit curious to see what's involved in this loop. Is it a powered loop?

I think I already gave you a suggestion over at Rig Talk by using this simple stands like one of these:
https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/produ ... takte.html

With the two jacks and probably a pot and the socket it should be enough even if you add another filter for the B+ supply. Normally you just have the two anodes with coupling caps and the two cathodes while the screen-Rs can be soldered directly to the socket.

Of course you can create your own board by using eyeletts ("Larry-style") by using these:
https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/produ ... -Pack.html
on a 3mm board (nor as recommended 2mm) by using a 3mm drill and a hammer.

Hi Olaf,

Yep you already beat yourself to it over on rig talk!

Thanks again for the reply, i think i will do as you suggested above as it will be the best option space wise.

When i do my second build i will do my own turret layout for sure!
