Some things get better with age, this song and album actually worsen with age along with the entire band to be fair.

I swear I cant get thru the first minute of st anger. its so awful. Its on the same level as Whitney Houston greatest love of all, that song makes me physically ill.

I remember the first time I heard St. Anger. I just randomly flipped on the radio out of boredom and thought the station was running it's "local band of the week" segment, where they took shittily recorded garage demos and played them on the air to promote the local scene. At the time it was beginning to be a pretty bold move, but they were still doing it. I kept thinking, "this sounds like a really young group of dudes trying to figure out how to copy old school Metallica, and just not quite knowing how." Then they got to the chorus and I was like, "um, isn't that the name of the new. . . . :o "

My lord, the fail.

My first experience with St. Anger was:

0:00-0:49 "Hmm, this might hold some promise."

0:50-on "WTF IS THIS SHIT?"

At the time the horrific snare didn't bother me that bad but now it alone would make this unlistenable.

"I'm madly in anger with you" is possibly the most brilliant ever though.

Uh, the Black album came out around the time of Nevermind. St. Anger was way later.

And yes, I'm proud to say I've never listened to St. Anger...other than the shit you guys posted at HCAF, at least. MC'tallica pretty much died for me when the Black album came out. :horse:

EDIT: props for mentioning Pinkerton though. Only Weezer record I ever got into...seems like that was a few years after Nevermind and the Black album though. Who knows though...i"m way too tired to look it up. Been up since 2:00 amp.

I just listened to it for the first time in 10 years, and that snare still annoys me so much.
James singing is bad too.

The first time I heard frantic-tick-tick-Tick-TICK-TAAWK with the vocal crack I thought we had left bad and stumbled into that weird zone overly-successful artists find themselves in where there are always so many yes men around that no matter how horrible they are doing, they're convinced it's absolute genius.
