Try starting a business that competes with these huge fucks. They've got that shit so snared up with regulation that the cost of complying is literally impossible for a start-up to break in.

Which is sadly exactly what the big corps want. They can break all the rules, pay a few million in fines, a pittance, but keep potential competition down.
Which is why I prefer regulation of the "no, I don't think you can do that" or "yes, that seems to be beneficial" variety instead of the "you can do that but fill out 4000 forms, pay 2000000 dollars and now you can do it."
Main Guitars: Gibson SG Classic, Agile AL3100, Fender Blacktop Telecaster
Amps: ACC150 (x2), Peavey VTM120, JCM600, Peavey Bravo, Yamaha THR5
Cabs: Mesa Halfback 2x12, Peavey 1810, Randall RS125CX

It's literally exactly how it is.
I ask people all the time, if you had 1 million in the bank, it would still be impossible for you to buy a praying mantis pump and drill oil.
I'd bet the 1million wouldn't even cover the forms, permits or licensing.
Same with anything like that, farming, whatever.

Yup, I even understand some fees, to help pay for sensible regulation. But sensible regulation doesn't mean letting a 15k head hog farm that makes millions pay $50k in fines for polluting when a small guy trying to get things going can't even get a permit to start producing.
Or hell, the banking/investment sector is the worst, but its all over.
Even in the freaking car business as this thread shows.
I find it hilarious in Texas, TEXAS of all places the NADA head is all happy about limiting freedom of competition and business. Everything revolves around $$$$. Well, most everything anyway.

Texas thing cracks me up too.
To me, Texas seemed just as bad as CA and NY on its ability to get shit done.
Yeah, if you want to do some bullshit roofing business or paint walls or open a burger shithole it's relatively easy.
But as soon as you start getting into businesses that actually make money, you'll find a good ol' boy network starts showing up and pushing you out.
Especially if its in the business that they are also in. Texas is no fucking different
Texas is also the worst at pissing tax dollars at scalping companies.
That's what's probably causing this tesla thing. Some good ol boy was getting his toes stepped on and decided to have a scotch with Rick perry and cry tears out of his fat headed thin lipped bitch ass.
