Pedal is not working good...

Post by flyingskull »

Wondering if any of you DIY experts can give me a hand figuring out what is wrong with my Joyo OCD pedal. (besides it being a joyo  )

When I engage the pedal it cuts the volume/gain of the amp, and I can only hear a very faint drive from the pedal. When I disengage the pedal the regular amp sound comes through loud and clear. When I turn the knobs on the pedal when engaged, I can hear the faint signal level or gain change, but the sound is very faint.

I tried different instrument cables, tried different power, tried on battery power, still the same.

What should I start with to diagnose/fix? I have no problem taking it apart if required.

Thanks!

the reason you get a full sound when the pedal is off is because the pedal is true bypass, you could have no power going to it have it disengaged and you could get sound out of it in bypass mode.
Since you are getting a faint signal when you engage, it's not a power issue. My guess would be most likely a cold solder joint that came loose.
