I think I will next time. I've gotten some matched sets from tubedepot and tubestore that when I brought them in to be biased the tech said they were matched pretty badly. Plus, I've received my fair share of microphonic preamp tubes and power tubes that just failed right away.

I am assuming that they don't burn them in and they don't test them while they are "hot". I test/rate mine straight off the burn in rack for more consistent results. Plus, I match at 400V and then again at 500V (depending on the amp) so that tends to keep my matching very close. The problem is most dealers match at 400V but most newer amps are 450-500+. Tubes that match at 400V will not always match at 450-500V.

I have had preamp tubes die prematurely but it happens less frequently if you burn in and screen them properly.

Thanks for the kind works Sleewell. :thu:

Last two sets of power tubes I got from Laura were right at 32ma. Didn't even have to bias them. Stuck them in and rocked balls.

Next up is some preamp tubes. But I need to wait a few months before I make that purchase other my woman will have a heart attack, or beat me to death with a broom. Either/or.

It's one thing when he was posting his stupid posts on this forum and HCAF, but bringing up his name when he's not even around to defend himself (or increase in the lulz) is like something a bunch of 14 year old girls would do.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this post, but honestly: grow up.

This. The guy is already down on his luck, working at McD's and having to lie on the Internet. He needs real help, not a group of losers fanning the flames when he's removed from the community. Lets just all enjoy the forum and focus on what's currently going down.
