I will say that I hate getting a hair cut. I'd assume just take an ass whoopin' than have to get a hair cut. I dont know why..it just irritates me. Now & then I just have my ol lady do it. At least when I get a haircut at home, I can jump straight in the shower afterwards
I used to do a 6 guard on top, 2 on sides and back. the cul-de-sacs became a little too obvious in the past year at that length, so recently I've also moved to an 8 on top.
I'm 30 and I'm thin up top but have probably kept the same density for the past couple of years.
I'm also dirty blonde so its a bit easier to see scalp.
I'll probably eventually end up with the ear to ear muff and jack up top but I'm working with what I have now and most people think I have a really nice head of hair...I know it is nothing like it used to be though and I have to pick a certain style that helps make it look more dense up top...
Unlike many of the guys in this thread so far...I'm rather metro (no homo) and pay a fair amount of attention to my grooming and attire (its also a factor that I direct a mental health treatment program and am the face of my agency)...so OP I can relate to feeling shitty about the thinning hair.
My hair on the sides and back of my head is really thick and I'd probably be an excellent candidate for the hair transplants that they do now...I may go down this road in a couple of years before it would become obvious that I was bald and then 6 months later had a full dense head of hair...I figure 2-3k in one sitting will fill things in really well and then if I needed another round another 2-3k will finish up keeping things looking dense up top...
There is no way I would do Rogaine or Propecia...especially since I've heard either one/both can actually accelerate hairloss AND have to be taken/used until you're ready to finally lose your hair...let alone the possible side effects Propecia has...
I'm a vain fuck I suppose but I'm pretty sure I won't look right bald and my head likely has dents in it from playing hockey for years...
What I do know is I still pull hot tail and am trying to settle down...perhaps once I get married I'll decide to let my shit go...but until then...I'm trying to stay youthful looking and dapper...
Make whatever decision you think is right for you...priorities...mine are clearly superficial and skewed...
Mine gets too bad, Im just gonna shave my head & grow my beard longer... Kirk Windstein style

At least you are honest with yourself and know where you stand.
A. Take hair vitamins, Biotin is key. B. Scrub the hell outa your scalp when you shampoo, swap shampoos. (generally its genetic, but occasionally its deficiencies, or clogged pores. A good scrubbin cleans & helps stimulation) C. After the basics, just cut it short as it looks good or shave it. No need to stress.
I started losing my hair at about 19. Let it go for a while but it got so thin on top it was just embarrassing. My wife convinced me to shave it clean and that's how its been for a few years now. I shave once a week and keep a nice beard going. Embrace it!

I remember looking in the mirror and I said to my wife, "damn, you can see my scalp!" and she started laughing at me. So, I figured since I never noticed before that it was time. Been shaving my head ever since.
Minus how all the razor burn or sweat pimples look, I don't mind it a bit

I went to a salon -- I know, I know -- and told the obviously gay guy what I wanted.
"Well, that seems a little extreme. Why don't we start with a number 4 guard on the clippers?"
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
"Shorter please."
"Really? I think it looks good."
"Shorter please."
"Well, let's go with a number 3."

"Look, do I have to enlist in the army to get my head shaved?"
"Fine!"

I met my brother for drinks on a patio later that day. We ended up drinking for about five hours outside.
I forgot I now had no hair.
Next morning in the shower, the skin on my scalp was coming off in sheets.
AHHHH WHAT THE FUCK!???
It was fucking disgusting. I'd never had a burn in my life up to that point -- I get dark as an Arab in the summer.
Let's just say I invested in a boatload of sunblock after that.
When mine first got really bald up top I went cycling one day, and the next day when I looked in the mirror I had tiger-striped scalp. The sun had burnt my head through the air vents in my helmet, but the rest was still normal colored.
I had to buy a fancy bandana thing to protect my scalp under the helmet.

I've seen guys with the tiger stripe thing going on. It doesn't look like it feels good.
I burned my scalp when I was 17. I had long hair, it was parted down the middle for the most part. Went on a 3 day hike on the continental divide....wondered why I had this horrible pain on the top of my head.....ugh. Burned my scalp right at the part. Not pleasant.

Not really going bald yet, I have a bit of a widow's peak that's making its way back slowly. Doesn't really matter though since I've been buzzing it close for 6 or 7 years now. Hair is a pain in the ass.

I did this. Same age too. I love it, no money or time spent on haircuts, shampoo, conditioners, hair gels, sprays or any of the shit people with hair need to use.
luckilly, my hair is so damned thick, that when i get it cut, they have to thin it out in addition to simply trimmming it downside though, my beard blows, and i wish i had brendans

I'm about to be 32 and mine started thinning at the top and at the crown about a year and a half ago. I know some of it is due to "busy season stress" but after this past fall it didn't start growing back in as much. I've tried Rogaine but didn't get many results, so I went to the doc and I got on Propecia and OTC biotin just about a month ago so I won't see results until 3-6 mo's usually so anyway, we'll see. My ins pays for most of the Rx bill so it's not that bad. Better than transplant surgery for sure at this point.
