Tell that to the thousands of people who have YLOD on their launch 60GB models.

Read again, I have two launch 60 gb models that have YLOD. Other than stuffing these things in a 110 degree room, there is no reason why these things should overheat like they do.

You are simply lucky.

Not really a fan of PS3s at the moment. Sony has been pretty belligerent and are not being held responsible for putting out a product that simply stops working due to faulty design. Now this software shit...

Long live PCs for gaming.

So you bought 3 PS3's that you knew were broken, and you're mad at Sony because you are incapable of fixing them???

...breathe...

Seriously, that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard in my life.

I am not mad at Sony in the least. However, considering that half of the PS3s in existence are YLOD and there are thousands of people who offer reflow/reballing services out there, it is pretty easy to conclude that Sony put out a poorly designed product.

I bought my PS3s to try and bring them back to life because so many people have had success in doing so. Two of them are launch 60gb models that are backwards compatible and one is a Slim that had GLOD.

My inability to bring them back to life means nothing considering I shouldn't have to bring them back to life in the first place. Get it slappy?

Dude, you bought them broken...and you knew it...That's nobodies fault but your own inept ass  Calling it a poorly designed product because you are too dumb to fix it is not anyone's fault but the user...ie: you.

I have a launch 60gb model that I've had since 2007 and use netflix on it at least 5 nights a week, and use it as my main dvd/blu-ray player...I have had ZERO issues with it. I also have a slim that I bought about 3 years ago for the bedroom, and that too gets use nearly daily...Nothing wrong.

Are there bad apples? Sure...but look what Microsoft released...worse than sony's failure rate by a nautical mile... (I also have a 360 that I have had zero problems with...)

Proper ventilation for the mother fucking win.

So, you can't read.

Fuck you.

No I can read just fine...So you can't fix consoles you bought knowing they're broken? Blame Sony.

Oh and, fuck you indeed.

No, you can't read fine. If you could, you would read that Sony manufactured a defective product where a whole cottage industry has been created to fix these defective products and for shits and giggles, I attempted to rescue a few of the defective products myself.

Had I not come along in the first place, there would still be three dead PS3s all the fault of Sony's shitty engineering. Are you mentally handicapped in a way that doesn't allow you to understand that?

I buy three broken consoles that broke due to Sony's shitty engineering. I attempt to revive them and you somehow turn that into: "Marshallnoise blames Sony for his inability to fix the consoles that broke due to their (Sony's) shitty engineering."

You belong in politics if you can spin that shit that hard.

Enjoy your broken consoles buddy. I think you're far too heated for an internet discussion, perhaps you should take a breather for awhile.

It's naïve to think that an item like this should have 0% failure rate. You're the one putting spin  Anyways, these posts scream black/white thinking, which is never good.

How about 5% failure rate? I think 5% is too high personally, but we are talking at least 30% failure rates. Go on criagslist, your local area, and look up Xbox/PS3 repair.

You're right, my b. Have a beer or two and lips get loose...and it's hard to whisper in a msg board post. Anyway, 30% is a wicked high fail rate. If that's the case, maybe Sony will have to hand over some cash in a class-action suit any day now.

Ok, where on earth are you getting at "least" a 30% failure rate? I'm going to direct you to this wonderful place called google, and you can let the first page of results tell the story with actual facts, and not some manufactured number you crafted from who knows where.

I'm over trolling him on that point, he's easy to troll :D

Now I'm just REALLY fucking curious where he got his "over 30%" failure rate number  Nowhere I've seen has had it above 10%, and most are around 5-6%, which is right in the range he said was acceptable range when he mentioned 5%

In comparison, as of 2009 (I believe it's on the google results I posted) the Xbox 360's failure rate was 54%...FIFTY FOUR PERCENT

Actual facts from Sony. Have you gone on craigslist like I suggested? Even ebay. And how exactly is Sony collecting data? How many dead PS3s are unreported because they are out of warranty anyway? So the failure rates that Sony publishes are failure rates based on warranty claims. http://us.playstation.com/support/warranties/ps3/ 1 year warranty.

You are lucky!

I was an xbox gamer before the ps3 launch. I had 3 RROD 360s within 7 months. Luckily they all happened during the warranty. After the third one I gave up got my money back and started saving for a PS3

My launch PS3 bit the dust after about 5 years of abuse. The thing was pretty much on as soon as I got home and then turned off at bedtime (sometimes not). I got a 360 almost a year after it came out, an it but the dust in less than a year with minimal use. Went through about four of them until the 2 year RRoD warranty expired an now on my 5th one. Actually my nephew is on his 5th because I gave the first one to him. I felt sorry for every time it went to shit.
