I haven't played Las of Us as yet but I would say Far Cry 3 looks just as good as Uncharted 3 IMO... the video clips I've seen of Last of Us does look really amazing though..

I wish I could properly comment on how Far Cry 3 looks. I have it on PC, it came with the high-dollar video card I bought. Sadly, my computer is hooked up to a 720p display

I find Far Cry 3 on the 360 looks amazing... but I friend of mine has a really mad spec'd out PC and he ran it at full res on his 1080p 27" monitor and it made the 360 look like a toy... but that's to be expected... lol

It's now been confirmed that the "family sharing" was in fact only a 45 min to an hour timed demo, after witch you would be sent tot he store and asked if you want to buy it. Is it really that big of a deal then? It's pretty much just an extended demo.
They've had something similar for PS+ member for a long time now. It's not sharing, but you can download and demo a full game and play for an hour. I've used it and all I can say is it's a total waste of bandwidth.

I didn't think so. It didn't run as smooth and everything looked like it has some overlay filter on it. Uncharted/Last of Us is just soooo smooth and everything is so detailed. Last of Us in particular is just mind blowing. It's Pixar quality graphics. It could be passed off as a PS4 game no problem IMO.

It is fact. The GPU is more powerful, and the RAM is a lot faster. A the very least, you're going to get better FPS out of the multiplatform games.

It also comes with more latency. Not that I claim to know much beyond that

I like the launch exclusives on X1 more

Sony's machine also uses 8GB of GDDR5 memory with a bandwidth of 176GB/sec as opposed to the Xbox One with its 8GB of DDR3 RAM. GDDR5 memory is optimised for high bandwidth, which is perfect for use in graphics calculations, but also has higher latency than DDR3 RAM, which would be a problem for a general purpose CPU. However, because the PS4 architecture places the GPU and CPU on the same die, the latency between the two may be minimalised. In short, the adoption of a graphics-friendly form of memory may work to PS4's advantage as a games-targeted machine – even though GDDR5 is more expensive to implement. There's a thorough summing up of the system design here.
A lot of other articles say the same thing. The latency won't be an issue for gaming, only for applications. I don't know about you, but I don't care if the Xbone runs Netflix slightly faster

We shall see
my money'd be on the simpler set-up, which looks like the ps4. But it's maybe definitely probably too early to start making claims like you are. You're not comparing two different PCs with PC game benchmarks, something that is arguably much easier to guesstimate differences in performance.

Re: Per FastRedPonyCar, Xbox 720 will require ALWAYS ONLINE
I didn't know that Sony were pushing a cloud based processing system too. It's certainly not popped up on any of my feeds. It's a neat was to keep the system fresh.
The ps4 architecture is good to. I'm moving into GPGPU programming with work and shared die is how everything will be soon (xenon phi and FPGA is cool but a bitch to write for) with the gpu doing the heavy lifting. It does remain to be seen how this works for gaming but its a paradigm shift in high performance computing and system control.

My laptop is a cheapie HP with AMD A8 (I wanted the A10 but Newegg dicked around much too long and I needed it YESTERDAY when I ordered it) so I had to run down to Best Buy and buy this one. I haven't thrown anything too intense at it, but the fact that I could play BF3 for a little bit on it without any issues I can remember is impressive enough for me. I have high hopes for this technology.

What's the point/benefit of it? The paradigm shift I mean
Re: Per FastRedPonyCar, Xbox 720 will require ALWAYS ONLINE
Its massively parallel. The nvidia k20 (of which the titan is based) has 2,500 cores to play with as opposed to the 4 in my data processing pc. It's relatively cheap too and there are compilers for fortran and c that do the heavy lifting so its quite easy to implement too. Just wrap the bit you want to send to the card in a function and off it goes. You can add multiple cards too.
Performance wise I have a hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis routine that takes about 5 hours to process using conventional methods. Using the k20 its down to about 10 minutes without optimisation. With tweaks it'll run sub 1 minute.
