These are pics of my cab I bought. Loaded with 80's vintage G12T75'S. Has a 1960a tag from the 80's despite being 1960B. Also never had corner protectors installed. No signs of rivets or any impressions or different fading from having had them. Also gold grill piping which is unusual. Apparently Marshall made a cab like this in 1986 but did have corner protectors. Also a logo in Lower left corner "Original Classic Limited Edition". I think this is what I have only maybe an early prototype or for an artist as despite never having corner protectors or rivets, I can feel a raised pad for the lower left logo behind the grill cloth. Yngwie Malmsteen bought most of them as he too favors 1972 Superleads. Reverb ad linked.

Also, my cab has the exact same no logo plastic side handles. 1970's cabs had Marshall logo on them and also white grill piping.

Yeah I think you're right. That has to be it.
Everything checks out except the corners. I think I even see the spot on the grill where the ltd edition badge should be.

Probably an early edition.

I agree. No way the raised pad would have been in the lower left on older cabs. I'm just stoked at how it looks with the JMP, and the earlier G12T75'S are definitely different from the more modern ones. I've had a few and they all have a little more upper mids and a more reserved top end. I love both the newer and older versions, newer ones including Chinese made are a little closer to Greenbacks and older ones a little closer to G12-65's.

Yeah I love the 80s 75w. Great sounding speakers. The newer ones are cool too but they're brighter and more scooped.

The old 75w are smoother but still have the big low end.

I think you killed it with this purchase man. Both the head and cab are outstanding. Marshall rig for a lifetime really. It can't be outgrown lol

Yes, I have no plans to ever sell this rig. It is the best sounding amp I've ever had by far! I am astonished how much gain these 72's have. There was even an old thread on TGP about how this year has a different resister in the circuit that really gives it a little extra. The best part is is just back off the volume a little and your back to AC/DC or Aerosmith or Zeppelin tones. This was a lucky find!

50w Lead Marshalls in general have a ton of gain. I was running my 1987x on 3 and it was plenty. The 100w takes a bit more volume to distort like that, but the 50s are fire hoses

Had to try… love my old school cab as it stands right now, but I’ve really got a thing for the straight bottom version
