guitar hero: inverse skill ratio?

Post by Dickarms »

i have noticed i really suck at guitar hero, and people that cant play guitar are good at it.

im always trying to hit the notes with the song, which is about .002 seconds behind the little notes hitting the bar.

anyone else?

I always feel like I am playing a melody to the drum part. Very awkward imo.

My brother is awesome at Guitar Hero, I think he won a tournament at a bar once, and awesome at guitar. He's pretty good at most musical instruments including the drums. I think playing Guitar hero well is more related to rhythm and coordination and that's why he's good at the drums and the game and why non-guitarists with a good sense of rhythm do well at the game.

It's because you're still playing the instrument. They're just playing a game, so there's no cross-talk in their brain.

I had a drummer who'd get mad BC I refused to play that game.

he thought it would be a good practice exercise. Lol.

I get one more younger person telling me with glee and excitement that they play guitarhero when they find out I play guitar like it somehow will make me look up to them or something, I swear I'm pimp slapping them. And I'll do it right in front of their parents too. Little fucks.

I had a cousin get balls-out FURIOUS with me because I wouldn't agree with him that guitar hero is harder than actually playing guitar. Mad him even madder that all I would say is, "naw, bro." He'd go off on a huge rant about it and I'd just shake my head and go, "naw, bro." Then he'd fire up again. This probably went on for an hour before I got bored and walked away leaving him a steaming mess. He's still pissy about it every time I hear from him.

You should have handed him a guitar and asked him to play something.

I would show up to practice...and the Drummer would wanna play guitar hero. "It would be good finger excercises.I think we could utilize it as a practice tool".

Im sure it's fun, but I dont have the desire top play it. I play racing games, BC I dont have a racecar. I play GTA cause I cant do that in real life.

I have a real guitar..I'll play it.

to me, playing guitar hero, is like screwing a blow up doll..while a super hot nasty pr0no slut is naked, in bed & pre-gaped & ready for action.

That has been my standard response whenever asked to play GuitarHero.

"No thanks, I play real guitars."

Typical response I get is something like "Yeah, but this is fun."

I liked playing Guitar Hero, but I sucked at it. People just assumed because I played guitar, I would be good at it. Not the case, hand me a real guitar, I can play all those songs no problem. On Guitar Hero, I'm fumbling around.

God I hate GH and RB. I hate losing to people who don't even play an instrument.

I had a stretch there where I actually got decent at it, but it was by basically ignoring the music and just focusing on the screen. It helps if you think of it as Dance Dance Revolution for your fingers.

Just like how Mario Kart is harder than actual formula 1 racing.

I'm so glad the trend for those stupid games seems to have pretty much blown over.

A drummer wants to play guitar hero with guitarists? Guitarenvy? Wanting to best you at something? Trying to look cool when he knew he wasn't?

Drummers and I have a storied history. It starts with the first one in high school, a coke head of epic proportions. Ah to have had rich parents that bought you anything you wanted then ignored you. Literally. They'd supply his coke habit if he'd just leave them alone. At least he had a sweet PA, which back then was not cheap. Sadly, he was probably the best as far as work ethic of any drummer I've ever worked with. And he was a junky. That should tell you some things.

A few NYEs ago my friends and I did this "real guitar vs. guitar hero" contest were they would play the GH and I would play along with the real guitar to see who made a mistake first. I beat them all even after drinking about a whole bottle of Jack.

Anyway, that was fun. Just thought I'd share :)

I like using RB as a home karaoke tool.

I've never played guitar hero and wifey asked me if I wanted to get the guitar for RB. I said no, I have a bunch of real guitars. Her thought was then I could play along in the game. I told her I sucked enough at real guitar I didn't need to suck at fake guitar too.

She gave up after that.

rock band drums are fun. so i get the fun associated with the game, and about the rythm thing, i am on beat, in a true musician sense. hearing the music as if it were a monitor mix on stage, im playing with it. but the targets arrive just barely perceivably ahead of the actual note. and that frustrates the shit out of me. wonder if there is a setting.

but yeah end of the day, i deflate their hubris with real playing :thu:
