Because I’ve actually lived in other places than the US and know how big “soccer” is and even went to a few games in Berlin, I’ve watched from about 35 minutes on and yes it’s a pretty crazy game.
What’s best is my wife walks in and like I said I started watching at around 35 minutes and she does some shit and comes back and it’s at 75 minutes. She’s like “I thought there was 35 minutes left!?” I said look at the clock and thinking she notices it counts upwards. And it’s now at 76 minutes. And she goes “Fine, 76 minutes” as if she thought she saw the 5 as a 6. Lol. I’m like no, look at what the clock is doing.. She still seems to not catch my drift right away, lol, so I said “Soccer has the time count upwards and not down to 0”. And , of course, as an American woman would say, “Well that’s stupid “ hahah
it's stupid for time to count upwards? that's how actual time usually works last I checked.
But anyway, that was one of the best finals of all time if not THE best. Ending in penalty shots can be anticlimactic sometimes but not in this case. France pulled out some miracles in this game!!! Coming back from 2-0 and from 3-2, all within minutes of regular and extra time. It would've been amazing if the ended up winning but Argentina was a very strong team from the very beginning so it's well deserved.

Lol. I mean, to be fair, it’s prolly one of the few that doesnt simply count down the time. But I get it’s cause they add all the stoppage time at the end.
And how’s this for my soccer knowledge. So I know Messi is the best dude who couldn’t win the World Cup and he played well and got 2 goals. But the French dude Mbappe (think i spelled that right) is like the NEW or next best player and he has the hat trick. So as far as the narrative one would want to see, which was Messi wins and does well, but the up and coming new”best” ALSO plays great, even perhaps a bit better, but loses In penalty kicks. I mean, that’s pretty much how it was supposed to go down
Mbappe is a fucking stud. Definitely one of the best of their generation. Messi is more of a "closer" type of player. You won't see him making amazing plays but when he's positioned for an assist or goal shot he is extremely accurate. Pretty much every goal Argentina scored this cup had his hand either setting up the play or scoring. That's a talent that is vital in soccer. A lot of the favorite teams in this cup -Brazil included- had very strong middle field and forwards but couldn't close their plays.
