SHOW US YOUR EDGED WEAPONS - Knives, Swords, Axes, etc

Post by ajaxlepinski »

Raf inspired thread. WOOO HOOO!!!!!
Decided not to call it, "Show Us Your Swords" in the hopes of avoiding unsightly pronz!

This is my replica of a 12th century, Danish sword, purchased from Museum Replicas around 1998.
In case you ever wondered what was meant by, "that's a double edged sword"... the concept would become clear the instant you pick this razor sharp fucker up..
It's just as dangerous to the person swinging it, as it is to the person you're swinging it at!!!
You REALLY don't want to swing it around without wearing some kind of armor.... which I don't have!

British WWII The Fairbairn–Sykes Fighting Knife. The design was eventually updated with the addition of a flat sided handle. The round handle made it difficult to know what direction the blade was facing, without looking at it... not a good thing in certain situations.

I don't have anywhere NEAR the collection that Raf has. Dude seriously loves his blades...but I do have way more knives than any sane or rational person should. I carry one every day, because it's just comes in useful for a lot of things. On me right now, I have a CJRB Scoria with pakkawood handles.

Also have: Spyderco Paramilitary 2, and Manix 2 lightweight. Zero Tolerance 0350, Civivi Elementum, Kizer Clutch, Benchmade Freek (hate that name), Kershaw Blur, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.

Have Becker BK-2 and Esee 3 fixed blades as well.

My father in law fell in love with that Forged in Fire show, hand built his own kiln, and now makes knives as a hobby. He gives them out as presents for the holidays, and tries to design them with the recipient in mind. My colors are orange and black, I like to fish (and Phish, lol), and I'm a pirate, so here's mine...

Image

I want to make a sheath for it so I can wear it on my belt.

The only cool "knife" I have is this. I'm hoping someone can tell me something about it.

All I know for certain is that my dad (deceased - 34 years) brought it back from WWII. He was a right-wing gunner on a B-29 in the Pacific Theater and was stationed at Andersen AB at the end of the war. He said he got it when he was in the Philippines. Anyone here a blade expert and have some input? It would be nice to know some details...

I've got one like this.
It's a traditional Sami knife, and it being used for everything to slicing food, chopping kindling etc. And they stay sharp. Mine is 25 years old, and is never sharpened. But it gets honed a little every time you put it in the sheath.

Spyderco Para 3

Does what I need, I like the ergonomics, and it fits me well.

I'm not in to knife collecting so I'm thankful my first decent one worked out.

I usually carry a ZT 0562cf or 0770cf, but rotate to smaller knives in the summer like I do with my cc firearms. Have plenty of dorky pics of them, I'll have to dig some up.

Cool!!!
My grandfather from Finland, gave me his Sami knife when I was 15.
It was an old one... made from carbon steel.
I used it on Boy Scout camping trips for about a year... until the blade snapped in two.

It looked like this...
