RIP Trevor Strnad (black dahlia murder)

Post by spawnofthesith »

Unfortunately this is real

horrible. based on the wording of the official statement sounds like suicide. Always seemed like a joyful dude and a hilarious hell of a frontman. "hung out" with him a few times in smoke circles outside venue back in the day. The Black Dahlia murder was one of my favorite bands when I was in high school

Man, I still love this band. Brandon Ellis breathed a lot of new life into their style. I am really fucking bummed about this.

That’s a bummer. Not a huge fan or anything but I did have one random meeting with him and those dudes in about 2003 maybe? Not sure the year but I was visiting my buddy in Berlin, who’s band was also on Metal Blade at the time and Black Dahlia was playing so they got the call to be support. I actually thought Black Dahlia killed it. And These dudes were young back then maybe 22-23 which I was only a few years older…

Anyway saw him after the show at the bar and in my all American And Chicago accent said something like Killer show or what not. And he was like “Say that again.” Haha. I’m like nah, I’m from Chicago visiting, you heard it right. And he preceded to say “Man I thought Beer is the universal language and I was trying to get a beer on stage the whole show and no one got me one! I’m like listen man, I’ll buy ya a beer, just ask. Lol. I was of course fucking around, but I did buy a few beers and we chatted about bands and music growing up and all that shit we had in common. Really sucks it was suicide.

Black Dahlia was fantastic. Perfect blend of take from the Swedes and their own time proven stamp on it. Doubled down with a true love for all great eras of death metal. Phenomenal musicianship and excellent songwriting for how brutal they were. This will kill them and that makes me sad on a number of levels.

Can't say I am a fan of the band although I know they're good in their style. But I had the chance to meet all of them back when I was at Line 6 (we hooked them up with POD Farm software back in the day) and they were all good people. Very sad. RIP.
