That's the one thing we cannot complain about in NJ, someone else pumps the gas when it's raining and snowing, and the gas prices are among the lowest in the nation at all times.

Re: Jesbus ... Gas prices in Indiana
The times I have been in Sweden, I rarely used a car.
Actually, I rented a car for a road trip to the wilderness.
But typically, I land at arlanda, took a train to city center, stayed a couple nights across the street from the station. Then went back, got in the train and headed west bound to my fiance's city. While there, I walked everywhere. Rode a bike once.
Same in Rome, Monaco, etc.
I was thinking, if my city was like this, I'd probably sell my car.
In Europe you don't need a car. In Murica, u need a car. If not, 'they' will take ur jerb. Fact.
Lol, just trolling on the last part. But seriously, Europeans complaining about gas prices is the equivelant of Americans complaining about 24" rim prices. Absolutely unnecessary.

Re: Jesbus ... Gas prices in Indiana
A few days ago regular gas was $3.47 a gallon, here on the Florida Gulf coast, which is what I use in my gas eating Ford SUV, but my modified Mustang uses premium and I am not even sure what the price of that is right now. The prices are starting to rise again because it is summer and lots of folks hit the road for family vacation time.

Re: Jesbus ... Gas prices in Indiana
The distance we drive is a function of gas prices anyway (more relevant in the long-run)

Dumb argument is dumb. Do you drive all the way across 'murrica every day? I doubt it. Just because you CHOOSE to live in the 'burbs doesn't mean your lower prices are actually "worse" or that you're somehow more justified in complaining about gas prices. I'd venture to guess there's somebody in damn near every country in the world, save maybe Lichtenstein and Vatican City, that drives further than both of you every day.

Yeah, this is a stupid over generalisation. I get it, America is big. But plenty of people in the UK need to drive all the time for their jobs. Driving all day means you rack up the miles no matter what country you're in.

My new job is my longest commute I've ever had but was worth it for a nice pay bump.
Paying over $4.50 a gallon nearly offsets that bump.
Ok not really but it sure fucking feels like it.
Fucking dicks.

Re: Jesbus ... Gas prices in Indiana
im seriously thinking about getting a Nissan leaf or a Ford energi car because im sick and tired of paying all this money for gas. A home charging station is like $1200. That is worth it alone. Im just worried because I don't want to take a drive somewhere and then get stuck because I cant find a charging station. Anybody own an electric car here?

Like that's a positive data point? No thanks, I'll stick to living in CA. Not swamp ass SC. lol
If its one thing I've learned in my journey living across the estados unidos, is that there is no good deal. And, it's pretty much the same cost of living everywhere. You might have a state with no income tax, but crazy property tax, or gas tax, or whatever.
Charleston is a very nice city, you've got that right.

Driving all day means you rack up the miles no matter what country you're in.I do more than 30k miles a year, maybe that's on the low end for a typical American but it still means I'm spending £300 a month on diesel. I'd turn that into a dollar amount but no doubt you'd have a problem with that too
I remember gasping when watching the Top Gear where Jeremy drove a Shelby GT500 from London to Italy racing Richard and James who took the train. There's one scene where he's in France talking about the car while filling up, about how it only has a 50L tank - then it pans over and you see Total: 90 euros on the pump. OUCH.

much of the state, no I don't want to live in, either. Don't mistake me on that, lol.
Charleston is a LOVELY city.
And if you don't already know about it, you might want to take a look at Greenville. There are very, VERY few places in the country I'd rather live. I will agree that once you take into account all variables, the savings of one market vs. another are really not in such stark contrast as you'd think. But I DO believe some places offer better value to the resident than others.

Re: Jesbus ... Gas prices in Indiana
I cant imagine driving the cars I used to drive, with todays gas prices. 8 to 10 miles per gallon gas mileage & having to run 93 octane coctailed with 112 octane race gas (that was $2.00 a gallon in the 90's. I bet its over 5 a gallon now).

That was what I learned during my time in Tejas. Everyone is like, "Texas fuck yeah, no tax, cheaper than librul CA!!1!"
But then, property taxes are higher, fuel was about the same, longer driving distances, just as horrible traffic, toll roads, etc etc.
:scratches head:
Pretty much was exactly the same COL minus proximity to beach and mountains. Perhaps running a business there might be different/cheaper but the living part seemed to be the same. It's pretty much the same in every comparable market. Live where you want to be, there's no free lunch- they'll get you somehow.
I dread the fuel costs, I'm about to buy a diesel F250 and I'm like, fuck.
I really want a fiat 500. Srs.
