Been an effed up last year

Post by primeholy »

A few things.
1.my mom passed away a just over a year ago from a stroke. Totally unexpected.
2. On April 12th my wife had a TIA (mini stroke). Her carotid artery was 100% blocked, and she almost died. She started back work this week with half days. Her short term disability was being a pain in the ass the whole time.
3. Ive been working mandatory overtime since October of 2020, which is really helpful while my wife isn’t working, but I’m fucking over it. Only one day a week to really spend time with my family.
4. Since my wife’s TIA I decided to quit the band, because that was taking away the 1 day I get to spend with my wife.
5. Found out the key/rhythm guitarist/band leader had cancer in his lymph nodes, so we are getting together one last time tomorrow, and I haven’t picked my guitar up in more than three months till today.
I’m going to the gym, but getting a lil depressed over the last couple of weeks.

I know I dont post much, but I’ve been around since HCAF. I fucking bought a DSL 100 HR right before my wife’s illnes for the band, but haven’t been able to use it with a band. Maybe Ill use it tomorrow.

Peace out fuckers

Man you're definitely one of the HCAF OGs. Sorry to hear about all this, that's rough indeed. Hopefully your wife will make a full recovery. I think you are making a good decision quitting the band and spending more time at home. I had to do that for 8 years for different reasons (my son) and I have no regrets. One thing about the music scene is you can take a break and when you come back it's exactly the same. Same covers, same bars etc.. So take your time, focus on your family and get back to it when you can.

Nearly everyone I know has had the hardest year of their lives. Sucks what your version of the last year is looking like brother. I wish and pray for you that things get better. Do what you have to and make the adjustments you need. Music will be here always. Family might not be.

Man, that’s definitely an effed up year. Here’s hoping things are on the upswing. Music can wait. Spend the time with your family when you can. It’s ok to feel depressed with all that you’ve had going on too. Prayers, mojo, good juju all sent, man.

I don’t know how to embed, but here is a snip of war pigs. We hadn’t gotten together since late may, and I hadn’t played my guitar any till the day before we got together, for about an hour

Really glad to hear your wife's OK and was able to return to work. My friend's wife had a stroke, a few weeks ago and she's been spending the last few weeks trying to get all her marbles back in the bag. The prognosis is good but, the doctors say, based on their experience, that it's going to take another month before she'll be able to go back to work.

Mojo for all the rest!!!
