Not really. He has money and fame. It's probably absurd to him he spent any time in lock-up.

Once we accept that everything's pretty much always going to go the opposite of what logic, empathy, decency or compassion would dictate, it's pretty easy to see that our world is exactly what we deserve. Not that strange at all when you think about it.

News like this is why I need to drop out of communicating with other humans every once in a while to recharge my humanity centers.

Money certainly helped in this instance because he could afford to keep attorneys on the case long enough to get it reversed due to a "technicality" - a previous agreement not to prosecute. He's old, partially/mostly blind and feeble, so they probably won't try again and he catches one of those breaks that fame and wealth afford. He'll sit with whatever money he has left and die knowing nearly everyone thinks he's a degenerate POS. That part seems appropriate.

What struck me is that Phylicia Rashad posted about how a terrible miscarriage of justice had been corrected (paraphrasing). Not sure I'd want to publicly link myself to that mess if I was her...

I'm actually surprised that Paula Poundstone hasn't capitalized on the whole "me too" thing, especially since she was a trailblazer in that regards back in the day. She's gotta feel bitter lol

As frustrating as this is, and as much as celebrities have access to better legal representation than we do, no celebrity pays off a judge or prosecutor, or writes the laws, and in this case, and quite like OJ's case, it's not really their money that had the most effect, it was the failure of the prosecution to do the right things.

So, it does not change the fact that both are scumbags, but you should be angry at our legal system, (which, wasn't written by poor people, criminals, nor celebrities, btw), not the citizens that take advantage of it. That same legal system unfairly railroads a large portion of our population as well, so, again, don't hate the playa . . .

In this particular case, I'm sure there's plenty of hate to go around. I'm perfectly happy saying I despise both the system that allowed this to happen, and the "playa" for what he did that landed him in the original hot water he managed to drag himself out of.

I agree with everything except the absolute of the highlighted portion. Corruption of the legal system had nothing to do with Cosby's release and it isn't a systemic or frequent problem, but you're kidding yourself if you think it's non-existent. It's probably more common in backwoods and small town settings, but you can be certain that corrupt attorneys and judges make deals to circumvent the rule of law...

I agree with you. But I do think money did play a part in this particular case because it took a solid legal team to work that loophole and take it all the way to the Commonwealth's supreme court. This type of representation is extremely expensive. Unless you luck out and a top lawyer is willing to take on your case pro-bono because he/she strongly believes in getting justice for you, you'd be looking at about $2k/billable hour with hundreds if not thousands of hours of work to take a case up to any state's supreme court. Especially a reverse decision case, just the process of qualifying it to a Supreme Court hearing is excruciating. This is not something a legal aid or even the average law team would take on.

No, but there is chatter he's attempting to line up a comedy come-back. One rumor even says he's already pitching sit-com ideas. I'm sure that'll fly.
