Hi Guys

Post by Casey4s »

I just found this place a couple of days ago from a post at HC. I had been "off-line" for about a year and I just recently started looking for the amp forums I used to frequent but found most of the guys, at least from HC, had moved to here. So here I am. On HC I mainly hung out on the DIY and amp forums.

This looks like a cool place to hang out.

I am an "Old Geezer" BTW.

I bought my VT-22 brand new back in the seventies sometime. Besides LOUD, it is so freaking heavy I built a weeled platform for it before it killed me dragging it around to gigs.

I converted mine to run on EL-34's several years ago to try to tame it a bit. That made minimal difference but the tone is a bit cooler. I added a pot to adjust the bias too.

These things are famous for needing electrolytic capacitor replacement. I replaced most of mine when I did the EL-34 thing to it.

I cashed in my savings bonds from the army to finance mine. Had to have it :rawk:

Mine came with the little dolly and a 1/4" threaded long bolt to attach them together.

However,( oshit), its been in storage for decades. Same fookin tubes, and drier than a popcorn fart. I probly have black widows livin' in there... :D

I made the dolley and used a long 1/4 x 20 screw to attach it to the existing threaded hole in the bottom of the cabinet.

Brand new this amp was $325.00, now it's worth about $800.00
