The West Will Burn This Year.

Post by TraumaRN »

Unprecedented heat moving into WA state over the next 2 weeks at least and we are already having fires in our drought conditions. 100-108 for a week starting Friday which might happen once/twice a year but not until August! Get ready for the Western smoke clouds coming soon. Stay safe- the West will not be pretty and Summer just started.

I read somewhere that the amount of moisture in the ground in Cali (maybe other states as well) is way below what it was before last year's fires.

We're all just pretending that the end of the world isn't upon us at this point. And I don't exactly mean climate change. I just mean all of the horsemen on the ride while we have an inept leadership and a population where too few are getting real information. It's a recipe for fuckedsville stew and we're the meat.

On the issue of "too few getting real information", there was a federal court finding that just came out made by an Obama appointed judge that the most popular MSNBC host's show does not qualify as news and is instead.... entertainment. For those who feel triggered by this, remember that they made the same type of ruling about Fox's most popular host a while back.

In case you weren't aware, NONE of the cable news shows are giving you actual news. It's ALL infotainment and propaganda.

Sorry Boomers. Time to accept reality and deal with it.

It's been that way for decades at this point. Anybody looking at TV news as a genuine info source on most issues is . . . sadly misunderstanding the purpose. There are ways to get at genuine news, but you have to dig. The TV shit is like a headline overview with sometimes entertaining commentary that too many people take seriously. I wouldn't even refer to most of it as infotainment as the info just isn't freakin' there 99.9% of the time.

Sadly, some of the online written news sources are headed firmly that direction as well. *SIGH*

Little by little more and more you’re having to go to substack to get real print journalism.

105 and rising in Seattle today. We have a couple of window air conditioners but nothing that can really handle this kind of heat. Only about 35% of residents even have that much.

I get heat. I grew up in SW Washington and lived in Texas for 3 years. Almost 110 degrees around here in JUNE is insane.

I agree and disagree. 100 to 110 degree is common here where I've lived pretty much all my life, the valley-half of Los Angeles. But lemme tell ya, I'd be miserable if it snowed and remained in the 30s for a whole week. I don't have anything that would support me through that kind of weather for any period, nor does the infrastructure. That kinda weather would simply be dangerous if not lethal here. Sheeeit, people die here just from rain.
