So, apr is officially out of business. Dan screwed me out of $65. After 13 months, I still don’t have my aftershave.

Well, live and learn, I guess.

SOTomorrow...

The Ascension SELECT arrived today so I set things up for tomorrow morning's shave.
The handle is solid stainless steel and feels a bit heavy and the knurling, on the handle, provides an excellent grip. The head reminds me of the SLOC.
i was surprised by how much the head profile curves. None of my other razors have that much curve.
Because the blade is wrapped around the curve, it acts like a spring allowing you to loosen the handle 1/4 turn to expose more blade. The razor comes with a rubber ring that you can insert between the head an the handle - the ring provides extra friction that allows for 1/2 turn and even more blade exposure... this should be interesting!
The flair tip on the end of the handle unscrews - you can store the rubber ring between the flair tip and the handle.

Man. I forgot how freakin brainless and simple it was to make lather with a synthetic. It makes tons of lather, and comes out of the brush beautifully on the subsequent pass. The only reason I quit using synthetics was because they don't retain any heat in the winter. I might make it a synthetic summer. I was ready to unload a bunch of brushes, but now I have renewed love for them.

TFS Il Capitano II = JPG Le Male clone. Awesome. Great lather.

Sabre has been shaving kind of rough lately. I may commit the ultimate sin and use a light handle with it. I just can't stand heavy handles these days.

Finally got to use my Gautier Le Male EDT. Still smells like the old days, even post-IFRA. Good stuff. Nice and strong.

10/10. GREAT Result.

Here's my review and first try observations of the Ascension SELECT....

- I used it with the handle tight and without the spacer ring. While I was curious about loosening the handle to increase the blade gap, there really is no need to do so. The Sharpologyst review said the same thing.
- Heavy handles tend to cause more nicks and the Ascension handle was very close to being too heavy.
- It felt like I was shaving with a slightly more aggro SLOC... it did an excellent job of plowing down the stubble without feeling too dangerous.
- The knurling on the handle made it very easy to hold, even when covered with soap.
- Since, I was getting ready to go to work, I was in a bit of a hurry. Like the SLOC, the Ascension is good for rush jobs.

I give it two thumbs up but, I after only one try, I still like the SLOC better. I'll use it a few more times and post an update.

Amazing shave. First time I’ve taken the leap and used the Sabre on a different handle. It was awesome. Felt light and nimble like a vintage gem.

Tgs inferno rules. I think it’s an adp leather clone.

Awesome shave 10/10

Insane shave. Krokos is the shit. Scent could be stronger, but the leather is amongst the greatest I’ve witnessed. Scent is great though fwiw.

Since Apr is out of business, I can start using it again. Great scent.

Shave 3 on this ptfe gem. Love the light bamboo handle on the Sabre head. Awesome.

Shave #2 on the Ascension SELECT
10/10

Because, they have similar designs, I'm still comparing the Ascension to the RazoRock SLOC.
I'm going to use the Ascension for a week or so then, I'll switch to the SLOC for a good comparison.

Shave 4 on this gem blade. Still going strong.
Krokos is amazing. I think Pasteurs still has their 15% off Father’s Day code. Father21

Miyake bleu rocks. Smells like something from college. Maybe polo blue.

Loving this razor.

Had to do a speed shave. My toddler is ruining my sleep every day. I feel like absolute garbage today.

Day 5 on this blade. That's insane for me. It's still smooth as silk.

Still loving the titanium handle on the Sabre head.

Proraso White foam + Opuntia = trying to recreate the past. It's awesome.

Paid him $46.79/usd for a bottle of aftershave on 5-22-2020.

He ghosted me immediately after payment.

I've emailed him periodically 4 times since then. His online persona completely stopped in December of 2020. All of his vendors have stopped listing anything APR. He 100% deleted his Reddit profile.

I took the gamble and lost.

I still don't have the aftershave. No refund either.

Google for yourself to see other stories.

This is the only blade I recommend. (I usually get these on ebay or Connaught, but it's OOS at both places. Here are other places)

$25/100 blades . shipped.
https://www.amazon.com/Extra-Sharp-Coat ... 742&sr=8-1

$25/100 blades. Gotta buy other stuff or pay shipping. Definitely legit retailer though.
https://bullgooseshaving.com/products/p ... ack-of-100

$40/200 blades. Confusing website. make sure you get item# 121-3 (COATED!) Legit retailer though. This is the USA Personna distributor.

Missed a day:
Image
day 8 on gem ptfe blade. It was great. Florian is such a great scent. Outstanding. Good shave
10/10

Image
day 9 on gem ptfe blade. Performance went off of a cliff. Left a lot of stubble. Done. This was a great experiment. Furthest I've gone on any blade in years. Good shit. Fougere trois is a bit heavy for mid summer, but still nice and potent. Not enough strong scents out there.
9/10 because of the beyond dying blade.
