Mrs mort bought me 5 Ryan Adams albums yesterday

Post by mortatone »

She went to look at a large collection where the seller was selling for 50 cents each and picked up 70 CD's, mainly for our daughter but also snagged me some Ryan Adams stuff because she knows I dig his music.

So tonight I'm listening to, in order:

Heartbreaker debut album
Gold 2nd album
Love is Hell 5th album
Easy Tiger 9th album
Cardinology 10th album

RIP Neal Casal

Mostly I’ve listened to him by going to Relisten and clicking a random live show. Never disappoints.

Heartbreaker is damn near a masterpiece. I like Gold as well. The self-titled one was good too and IIRC there’s lots of ‘68 Reissue Fender sounds on it.

Yeah Heartbreaker was definitely a favorite. Didn’t really care for Love is Hell very much. Cardinology was great too, mainly for some of the cool sonic things that were happening on that one.

Yeah self titled is solid. Great tones on it all around and the songs are good. And I think it was a lot of 68 CPR on there.

I cannot even with this. Way to take a rocking song and make it sound like a slow, painful shit after 5 days of constipation.

I like Adams so I like that version but I totally expected Billy not to like it :D

No one that is bored by Adams is gonna hear that and suddenly dig him. He’s slow and moody and alot of people fon’t like that.

Dude triggers the 80s old man in me. Rivers Cuomo starter kit visually, without anything I can hear tying him to that potential good well of music (well, 3-sh good albums worth at least) then the mopey Americana thing and I am further put off. Add in a cover (well done for his genre) of something I hold as sacred text and here I am.

I get why people would like him in general. I think lol?

I heard a snippet of him doing something Bob Weir that was mildly interesting
