What's your favorite Tom Waits album?
Like most of my favorite artists, I've looked for live performances and haven't made a frame of reference for their studio work. Of the artists I've taken in over the last decade I'm finally getting around to listening to their albums. Listening to Bone Machine now. What are your favs?
Re: What's your favorite Tom Waits album?
Tom Waits is awesome. For me it's a close call between Bone Machine and Mule Variations.
Wu-Tang is for the children.

Having grown up with a steady diet of Tom Waits, I have an appreciation for all of the eras. Closing Time and Small Change are sentimental favorites, but I like that experimental phase in the 90s, when Bone Machine and Mule Variations were recorded.

I like his acting more than his music , I can only take so many sea shanties in one sitting .

Man hard to say.
Small Change was the one that got me into Tom and its just got this vide throughout that I love. Like I can easily picture this album live in a smokey dark dive bar that its like right by a train station or something.
Rain Dogs because its got some of my favorites like Singapore, Rain Dogs, and Gun Street Girl on it and just has such a weird piratey vibe.
Real Gone has Hoist That Rag which is my favorite song of his but I don't think as an overall album I'd put it as a favorite overall, just honorable mention because I fucking love that song so damn much.
Overall I honestly haven't listened to Tom much in the last couple years but I'll always have a spot for him. Any musician that is as much of a true original as Tom will always get extra credit and respect for me.
