Let me get this straight
Our politicians:
-Have free healthcare we pay for
-Have a huge retirement we pay for
-Get paid the same for the rest of their lives, that we pay for
-Don't have to adhere to rules and laws that we do
-Travel paid for on private jets that we pay for
-Private security that we pay for
-Don't even have to vote, which is their only job, yet continue to keep their job
-Every one of them went in broke as fuck, now a multi millionaire
How do these gheyboys represent us again? I don't know anyone that get all this- yet these people think they're just like "us?"
I think I need to be a politician. How hard could it be. Find a district, promise them all they want and make people emotional. That's easy.

And people somehow think their guy actually represents their interests.
You forgot the part where about 50% of them leave office after a little while and go to work as a lobbyist making a million or more a year.

I wouldn't even consider myself to be a seriously well-informed constituent. Above average, maybe, but I'm definitely not "into" politics. I read the WSJ and occasionally watch the news, and thats about it. But it doesn't take a genius to see the transparency in politicians.
They're basically salesmen anymore. It's a joke.
Gravy-training through their "professional" lives.
Even on a local level, listening to the campaign offal these ignorant fools were espousing a couple weeks ago during election time was hilarious. Some of these city council guys I've known since school days, and listening to them now just makes me cringe. Fuckin yes-men.

The hard part isn't doing the job. The hard part is convincing the people who have the money to buy your ads for you so you can actually get elected.
The people with the money want to make sure you understand that your job isn't to do anything other than follow directions.

Your attempts to ruffle my feathers bare no fruit, sir.

This...
The politicians work for their constituents sure, but only the ones who have paid for their services.
Newsflash. There really is two Americas, and likely, none of us live in the "right" one.

I'm mad bro. Very jelly. And mirin' too.

I don't think I'd want to live in DC. But getting paid to do nothing would be pretty awesome.

I think that the unemployment rate in Washington D.C. is roughly in the 3-5% range (well below national average!) and the value of homes and properties in the area is up double sigits in recent years as well
No wonder they are so fucking out of touch, they and their "staffers" basically live in a bubble, non reality world, i think many of them have no idea or dont care about how shitty things are in the real world for the rest of us
Goverment is supposed to work for US, not us work for the goverment!

Good one.
I dunno, I know my congressman personally and he isn't a bad guy. Knows the issues inside and out and is really good at arguing in a factual manner without seeming like a dick. He votes the wrong way much of the time but I do respect him. He also works hard, goes back and forth to Washington all the time and meets with various business and social groups almost every workday. I think he could see his family more and make a lot more money in some other job.

No, the fact is a majority of congress are 1%ers. No one went in "broke as fuck", even the poor ones were upper middle class. The truth is no one poor could rally enough funding together to make a run for a political position. They don't know enough rich people, don't have their own money, or don't represent the ideals of people that do have money.
