Things are so slow you get bored

I have found out over the years you don't ask anyone for something to do or you will end up owning it

1. internetz
2. Bathroom run
3. Phone - you're playing Tetris or Angry Birds and the boss thinks you're busy as balls.
4. Wander the plant and check out the latest round of new-hire hottays. (If questioned, you are implementing the test phase of the proactive Help Desk liason program.)
5. Stir up shit among other departments.
6. Compare notes with the janitorial staff and see if you agree who the biggest scumbags are. It's shocking how often the digital janitors and real janitors see the same things rolling through the trash from the same peopl.
7. Surf porn. (Er, um . . . check to be certain the internet filters are functioning properly.)
8. Work on your novel(s).
9. Work on personal projects.
10. Dream up new ways to destroy your enemies.

Not that I've ever had time to give this any thought or anything.

It's generally safe to assume the documentation isn't finished for several things.
How's your DR plan ? Is your piece of it up to date ?
What's the next skill set you are going to need ?
What in the industry is completely off your radar and going to surprise you next year ?

I work in a rather specialized field of IT -- in decades of work boredom hasn't happened -- even when there is 'nothing to do' there is 'tons to do'.

also, dump at work a lot then go back later to wipe ass again b/c john wayne paper appears to get it all off then the itching starts and there's somehow more shit .
