Mojo bros

Post by soundgardener75 »

Without getting more into personal details, I seem to be in a string of bad luck.

Wife and I were driving back home from SF, and we got involved in a minor hit and run by a huge truck rig, where the four lanes merged into one (construction shit). I was about three feet awat from it and it started backing up, and we could back up because there was a car behind us. Luckily none of us got hurt.

Tried getting this drivers attention and kept on rolling, so we followed him, while the wife was taking pics of the license plate and company info. On the next merging lanes, I stopped in front of his truck and told him he hit us, and he kept denying he didn't.

Called 911 and they told us to go to our county's cph to file a hit-and-run on their county, and give all info that we have.

I'm glad we're ok, even though this car with the minor damage is an invonvenience to us, since we only share one car.

Yeah file a hit and run report with CHP and give them the license number and information, they will handle this.

Thanks God you're all ok, that's the most important part.

Glad it was minor and you weren't hurt. Hit and runs suck.

Hope you guys get it taken care of.

Thanks guys, I got really scared when my wife freaked out. Getting myself to be calm to reassure her it was gonna be okay wasn't easy, but managed to do so. And yes, we're glad it's minor and nothing happened to us physically, that would've sucked big time.

Sucks, man! Glad you were not hurt and that you at least have a path to follow. I hope your insurance is backing you up, too. Prayers incoming, bro!!!

What was the company he drove for? (On the door)?

I hope you didnt write the trailer license down and got his commercial license # (again, on the door).

That trailer could be registered to a leasing company who then subleased, then subleased, resulting in quite the cluster fuck.

The Santa Ana officer that I filed that to was kinda worried about that, but since I had the company name and the description of the tractor that it was hauling, he said it should be ok.

Man, now that got me worried, at the time, I was just relieved that we were okay, but was more concerned on how to handle this.

Had a similar incident years ago - truck started changing lanes and couldn't see me right at his front wheel. I didn't even know the truck was there (long commute home at the time), until I heard something like a chain saw cutting into the rear quarter panel of my car. Turned out the long lug nuts on the trucks are a very effective gladiator-like cutting tool. Lucky for me damage was only to car, although I just about had a heart attack.

The guy did admit to hitting me - wasn't hard to miss me suddenly punching it in front of him and then stopping. He was from out of state and tried to pay out of pocket for the damages. When we met up a week later (he apparently had a regular route from LA to Phoenix), he decided he couldn't afford it and I had to go through his company. Was a pain in the ass and the repairs were never right.

Glad to hear you and the wife are ok. That's definitely the important thing. Best of luck tracking him down.

I was almost killed by a hit and run driver once. The SOB came barrelling down the road to pass me. He got alongside and sideswipped my car with his truck. Sent me off the road into a ravine filled with trees. Luckily the car stopped just short of ramming head on into a tree. I believe in mandatory time for hit and run offenses.
