When I see my friends that have just gone out and bought a 45,000 dollar truck and are doing all kinds of mods to them bitching about obamacare, I just cant be on the same page as them. My high school friend is a psychiatrist now and is saying he cant afford his health insurance now. He's been posting pics of his new raptor and all the mods he's doing to it, and has a bass boat and a harley. Here is what he had to say, and I just cant feel sorry for him.

So we have been discharged from Blue Cross Blue Shield for not meeting the "criteria" to keep our health insurance that we had for many years and we are forced out to sign up for obamacare because we are "above the poverty level" and have "pre-existing conditions".

From the mouth of the great liar in chief: "You won't be forced into obamacare! you will have the ability to keep your private insurance if that's what you want to do!"

Now I have to figure out how I'm going to take care of my family at twice the cost that I already didn't have the money for!

Oh, and he just got back from vacation to the Bahamas.

If they had "pre-existing conditions" they're lucky they could get insurance at all. I find it difficult to feel sorry for those that have plenty of money for the basic necessities in life yet bitch about the cost because they spend all their money on toys.

Somehow though because they are middle to upper middle class its ok when that happens and its only a problem when poor people make poor monetary choices.

Also, I'm not certain, but I thought the ACA exchanges were for those who were up to 250% (I think?) of the poverty level and for whom health insurance would be more than 8% (again I think? I haven't followed the exact numbers as i haven't needed to).

And wait, if they already didn't have money for health insurance (apparently they actually did as they still had insurance. I'm pretty sure when you stop paying premiums it goes away) how did they find money for that new tricked out truck? Hmmmm....

I'm tired of hearing people bitch about shit too. I mean hell, I wish I didn't have to pay for health insurance, a mortgage or put money way for retirement. If I didn't do any of those things I'd be driving a Mercedes right now if i wanted. But, being somewhat of an adult, I realize that intelligent choices are not always the fun choices I'd like to make.

But sure, I guess I can blame the President for all my problems. Why not?

edit: In IL at least, you can make up to 94.2k a year for a family of 4 and still qualify for benefits. Not sure about TN. I'm thinking all the details aren't being disclosed.

that said, the plan IS fucked, it DOES fuck people, it IS invasive which kills the fucking point, it SHOULD be stopped, they SHOULD admit the plan was fucked but the intentions were good and fucking try again with something better. this country is really starting to piss me off.

My wife looked into it and found out as well that her current insurance plan doesn't meet the minimum requirements therefore she has to sign up for twice the cost of her current plan.....almost $500 a month! For something she already had! RIDICULOUS.

Sure, it's easy to look down on someone who makes more money than we do, just as it's easy to empathize with someone who makes less.
In the grand scheme of things, does he have a lot to bitch about? Probably not. He should be grateful he is in life where he is.
But when a bill is passed that affects him personally, he has no control over it, and causes his discretionary income to be reduced, no matter how small or large that income is/was, does he have a right to be unhappy about it? Damn right he does. Sorry.

Now, when monster jam roger decides to build a half pipe in his backyard to do 1080's on and no handed Indian burn or whatever the fuck else trick he wishes and he falls/rips his ass open, this has no effect on me

His bleeding nutsack stuck to a nail he didnt hammer in doesnt bother my rights.

And that's why the ambulance is NOT free. You pay for that shit or your insurance does.

See the difference here? One set protects people's rights and liberties from the other dumbasses and the other services just the individual and party involved.

And we pay astronomically more money for healthcare for much worst coverage.

I remember reading an article about that and interestingly enough a major aspect of why America's medical cost was so high was because of it's method of actually buying medical supplies etc... nothing is centralised so prices vary all over the country..

People have just as much a right to affordable healthcare as they do police and fire protection.

And that's an entirely different argument. I'm stating why it's not being subsidized like police and fire.

People need to stop saying free healthcare too. It's not free, someone is paying for it.

but the Police and Fire Departments aren't free either.... it's a matter what you consider essential. Now, I'm assuming you're in a position that you can afford your own health insurance and probably didn't have any issues getting covered which is great, for you, but there are lots of people of there that unfortunately for what ever reason aren't as fortunate as you.
