The pocketknife thread

Post by ~Abstract~ »

I didn't see one of these yet...but I know Raf was talking about his ZeroTolerance on another thread.

Just got a couple Spydercos today...thought I'd show 'em off.

Neither pic turned out great...

Nice collection. I've got a Spyder Salt 1 that I take hiking, camping, etc. and used to use as my edc when I had a job that required that. I've always been a fan of their knives. SOG and Kershaw make real good stuff too.

I carry a Victorinox Tinker daily, mostly because it also has a phillips screwdriver on it. On days when I know I'll be receiving a shipment of computers (I'm a buyer), I carry a Bucklite MAX Medium to cut straps and wrapping on shipping pallets.

My fishing knives are a Spyderco AquaSalt (1), and a small KA-BAR 1232 Hunter. My backpack has a Gerber Freeman Guide folder which has been quite good for hiking and camping needs (I use a hatchet for anything heavy). I'd sort of like a KA-BAR BK-16, which is about like the Gerber but fixed instead of a folder. Truth is, I really don't need to replace the Gerber, and it's a little big for daily carry.

Best accessory I have is a $15 leather strop from Amazon. It has made a big difference in how good the edges are on my knives. It was fairly easy to learn to use.

I have a few... mostly just toys since I work in IT and do my job via keyboard.

I have:

CRKT P.E.C.K. (Also had the KISS but gave it to my pops for a b-day present)
CRKT M16 EDC Tanto (missing a fucking bushing I think, from the factory... didn't notice until way later... hate the tanto shape too now)
CRKT M21 G10.
CRKT Sting (fixed blade boot knife)
Kershaw Ken Onion Leek

Plus a couple knockoff POS knives... a no-name dull-as-shit chinese butterfly knife, a knockoff S&W karambit and some weird-ass rainbow fixed blade knife that has a 9" or 10" blade.

Sweet collection. I love CRKTs.
I really liked tantos until I got one. The only reason I even carried it was because it was better than that SOG and I didn't have any others. I liked the look of the shape but it doesn't feel right when cutting stuff. I don't like the abrupt angle. I also now prefer nonserrated blades which I never used to.

No pics, but I've had a couple of CRKT M16-10 knives, a Z and something else. I really like the AutoLawks/liner lock combo. I've tried a good handful of locks, and that's about my favorite. My next knife is gonna be an M16-Z, which has a beefier blade, but not a longer one. Possibly an Endorser. We'll see.

If I had the cash, I would throw down on some Blackwood Custom stuff. Like, dozens of them. I'd accessorize with 'em. Knives for every outfit and occasion, lookin' boss as fuck. You know, when I have a grand to drop on a folder like it was nothing.

I only own the one. It works as it should, holds a halfway decent edge and fits very comfortably in my side pocket. It's a Gerber paraframe, I've had it for years.
