I listed my 2008 Splawn for sale locally and I have been offered an axe fx for it. I am intrigued but I have no experience with it and I doubt Zentman will sign up for this board to help me out.

I am no tweaker either so I think an Ax Fx would make me crazy. I am intrigued but I dont think I can do a trade like this

Why does ur Nitro have EL34s? I thought that made it a Quick Rod?

Could happen. I have dragged my feet selling it but I have a 2012 Nitro and a 2012 QR so my 2008 gets no love. I just had it retubed with Tungsols and meant to take pics of it tonight for serious sale but.........I love my damn Nitro(s).

No. The Nitro can run on Kt88s with a simple mod or el34Bs. I like Rubys in mine usually. It does not take 6l6s.

I wouldn't for a I Standard.
I haven't been looking at the market lately but couldn't you sell the Nitro outright then pick up a Snax and still have cash left over?

Yeah I did not realize the resale on the standard was that poor.

Don't do it. You will find maybe two or three tones on the fx that you like and just use them all the time making the million and one things it's capable of irrelevant. That is why I have stayed away from things like the axe fx and eleven rack. I'm not a big amp tweaker either.

i wouldn't.

it is nice to be able to access so many sounds but that shit just gets in the way (too many tweaks, etc...). when i really want is simple and great sounding.

God damn CL nutjobs. I have tod this guy no thanks on the axe fx and he keeps sending pictures of it and saying he will throw in a line 6 spider also. I politely tell him again that I am not in need of another amp and he basically says " no, you are going to love having the axe fx."

Do people think they can bully you into a sale ?

He asked for more pics and I said I will send pics when he can pay cash for the amp. Im sure Ill have another pic on an axe fx in my inbox before morning.

Wish I had one of the "riffengirsch" Splawns that Kirk Windstein & Pepper Keenan were using on the 2008 Down tour. Those bastards SLAYED. Best live Down toan Ive ever heard. Even better than the Oranges they've been touring

Not only am I not trading...im not even selling now. Amp is being retrofit with a loop volume by a local tech and I am keeping it.

My 6505+ however is hitting the road.

Love the Splawn sound. Its not for everyone but it keeps me from gear whoring and amp hustling worse than I already do.

that's the thing with this whole digital movement. it's technology, that shit advances faster than you can blink. it won't hold it's value like analog equipment.

Not to mention the fact that I not ever heard digital equipment that didn't have that razz sound. I had an old school guitarist tell me the other day that his PodHD sounded so good he was going to quit hauling his vintage Fender amp. I can still hear the cold, harsh, digital crackle.

I will stick to warm sounding tube amps.
