Which one would you get and why?

I have the Galaxy S4 and love it. My wife has an iPhone 4s and told me today that she like my phone MUCH more.

"Apple fanbois are dumb!"
"Nuh uh, Android fanbois are lame!"
"No way!"
Repeat for 8 pages.

s4 active is a sales gimmick. i work for samsung. thye just take an s4 and send it off to get waterproof-sprayed. you can do that yourself.
after that, you choosing between the latest ios and the latest android.
of course thats an argument for the ages.
in my personal opinion, the s4 stomps the iphone in features, etc. the standard argument being ios is stable, user friendly. ive been hearing a lot less about those benefits lately. who knows.
to be honest though, you will not be pissed you bought either.

I don't need a lot of customization, so the iPhone works for me.

I like that the Galaxy has the big screen and it seems like it's a lot more powerful on paper. The Active isn't just a S4. They dumb down the screen to TFT and the camera is only 8MP instead of 13MP. I was thinking about the S4 but I'm so used to using iTunes for my music, which is what I use my phone for the most other than texting

See, I sorta wanted "free" since I could get a sweet phone free if I upgrade my plan.
I'm cheap though.

The 5 fucking rocks.
The 4G LTE is faster than my cable modem.
The screen is SOO good.
The processor is SOO fast. All my apps load and run as fast as I could ever hope for.
I don't have any Samsung phone experience since like 2009. That's when I switched to Apple.
I'm not an Apple fanboi. I have NO desire to own any of their other products. iPad, iMac...I don't even own an MP3 player...but they know how to make a kick ass phone.

Are you a media whore/How important is storage to you? A 64GB microSD + S# costs less than a 64GB iPhone.
Are you an app whore? IOS has a lot more useful apps than Android (barring tools like Wifi Analyzer and the like).
I got an S3 strictly b/c I could put a 64GB microSD in it, otherwise I would've gotten a Nexus 4.

I am definitely a media whore, which is why i'm looking at the GS4 really hard. I hardly use any apps

I got a new plan a few months ago.
Went with the Motorola Razr Maxx HD.
I think it's friggin' amazing. At first it seemed big.
But not at all after using it for awhile.
It's da bomb.

I'm sick of my iPhone 5. Each year the iPhones develop issues a couple months before they launch a new one. I've been using them since initial release and the effective useful period gets shorter with every release.
LTE data transfer can get stupid fast though, and approaches my home Internet speed. I've hit 48mbps down and 25 up on lte, though 15-20 down and same up are more on par with my average.
I was ready to ditch my iPhone but my new car has great iPhone integration that I don't want to give up. Streaming Internet radio and voice command dialing via Bluetooth without having to even get my phone out of my pocket is sweet.

Didn't even read further, cause I agree with this (beyond the first part of which I have no clue

)
The S4 is probably a "better" phone. I'm more of an iPhone guy and I can recognize that. Reason I have an iPhone? The Rdio app is way better (among some others) and I stream probably 4+ hours of music per day through it. It's that simple for me. I like many other features, but I really only stream music, text people and go online.
I will say that I you have any want to track/record guitar then you should probably go iPhone. Posting that to keep it relevant to the forum

My 4 has been going strong since the day I got, but it has been acting a little funny. It gets really slow sometimes and kind of freezes for a few seconds. Of course, this might be because I have the memory pretty full (which is no where even close to holding all my music....probably not even a quarter). I barely have any apps because my music takes up the most space. I actually have to cut my music way down to even use the phone, so I only keep the music that I'm sure I will listen too.
I was watching the iOS7 video last night and it seems pretty cool but also mostly the same iOS. The only thing I don't really like about the Galaxy is that Amplitube isn't on it. If there is some kind of amp sim on the Galaxy, I'd probably go get it in a heartbeat

The slowing down/glitch stuff is what I'm talking about.

My 4s had been running slow lately. One day I went to take a picture and it said "not enough memory available".

I didn't have 3 mb free. That explained it. After clearing it out its been fine.
Apple has been good about relationships like you mentioned. There integration with things, and quality of certain apps, makes it hard to leave once you have it.
But plenty of people I know with other phones are happy too
