music edition, unless its ultralolz. (don't say "obama" or "zimmerman" etc.)

i was reminded by the story in the dumb things at guitar stores (of string breakage damaging the expensive taylor top), of a person who once swore to me, after much ridicule from myself, several other guitarists, people with general common sense, etc., that a bass player friend of his broke a string and since it was so big, it lashed around and impaled his hand right through the palm.

i don't know about the specifics of the taylor story, but strings are not rubber bands. they stretch some, but most of their momentum is immediately countered out upon a breakage. we all know this. this person had a wild imaginaiton i guess.

I remember this one dude who swore that the Gibson baked maple fretboards would flake off while you were playing them.

hey man, that shit happened. he swore it was true. even though he listed a wood that wasnt made during those years and immediately left the forum when people called him out on it I still think he was legit. he was a stock market whiz too so you know he was on the up and up.

this isn't BS, but a similar story.

I had a uncut string at the headstock, being stupid on stage........... whip and *snap* hit my singer inside his nostril........instant blood on stage.

Every single time I've seen a bass string break, it just unravels and stays in place instead of actually breaking in half like and whipping around like an unwound string does.

Not saying it's impossible for a bass string to snap in two, but I've never seen it happen and I've had a bass playing friend who would literally break a string at least once every two months

The number of guys who have urban legends floating around them involving being "Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarist" or "Jimi Hendrix said __________ was way better than he'll ever be" is laughable. I've heard those stories repeated about Phil Keaggy, Billy Gibbons, and Terry Kath, just off the top of my head.

I believe the Terry Kath one is true. Supposedly Chicago was recording 25 or 6 to 4 and Hendrix got to hear it and thought their guitarist wah work was better than his.

I remember hearing something in high school that if you ever got the bull headed clap, that all you have to do is smash your dick with a hammer to make sure it squirts out all the puss and infection.
