Fish Sauce (Nuoc Mam specifically) is crazy cause it's so damn nasty on it's own but such an amazing ingredient. I couldn't really be without it in my kitchen.

I was in Minneapolis a few months ago and found this great Chinese buffet called Happy Moon, iirc. There were like 100 Asians waiting in line so I knew it must be legit. It was the best ever. Went back like three more times while I was there and it was packed with every Asian in MN everytime. There was a section in the back of weird food that I could not identify any of it. If ever in the Twin Cities area, check it out.
