I had no idea there was a river that big in LA.

Look for the HUD 737 arrival into KLAX. Pretty bad ass.
The Arrival into KSFO on Lufthansa was bad ass as well.

There are a couple of rivers in LA...but they are more concrete culverts, with little to no water in them most of the time, than what you usually think of as a river. Much more impressive at night than during the day. They sometimes film automobile chase scenes in the LA river.
