You're like the guy who justifies pirating music because you "go to shows and buy merch" or "tell other people and promote the band".

That doesn't make it right.


A guy I work with was a backer on kick starter for the Ouya. He couldn't stand it and sold it a week later. I was bummed to hear cause I was hoping itd be good

Anyway, I've heard its a rough go right now. The early adopters are essentially getting a "beta" product...at BEST. I'm hoping enough people buy them to give it a bit of life because I think it has potential. But its going to require people hanging in there for the next 6 months to a year.

Which sucks, but I hope people understood that's how it was going to be. I forget if I donated to its kickstarter, I think I did, but it was only like $5 or something. I might be confusing it with the Tesla Museum.

Anyway, I think indienoise got one and I'm interested to see what he thinks. For $99, I'm really tempted to snag one if they are even barely usable.

My buddy got in on the Kickstarter, he just got his last week. He dumped it off over here since he was leaving town for about 10 days. I played with it for about 15 mins...it's a real turd at this point in time. Hardly any games worth playing, and several of the ones I downloaded wouldn't even start. The ones that did work had frame-rate issues in places. IF they could improve the performance via an update, AND they got access to all the stuff on Google Play, it might be halfway decent...but they have a long row to hoe at this point.

With a wife, two kids and little income, maybe you should focus your attention somewhere other than (stolen) video games.

Precisely. It blows my mind that people bought this thing for 100 bucks and then went, "oh man this thing blows, it's not an xbox" and send it packing.

For me, just the idea that such a thing is even POSSIBLE was worth the purchase price. As much as I am into video gaming, I want to see markets like this succeed, and that means investing in it even when it isn't awesome. That's how stuff like this works.

Granted, anytime a new product is released on the market people expect it to be spotless from day one, and I really do think some of the issues (especially about the kickstarter preorders!) should have NEVER happened...but really, for the price it's worthwhile just as a novelty. I didn't expect it to take place of my xbox or PC. I hope they get enough business to get this thing to its full potential.

Also, about the OP - WAT. I really figured that link would be to some random Hong Kong Amazon store selling the Ouya - not to the actual Ouya store itself. Fail.
