Introduction - Hi from Tennessee

Hi all, I am Josh. Good to be here and post for the first time.

I live in rural TN right beside the Smokey Mountains across the border from Asheville North Carolina, ride motorcycles, raise 2 daughters and help my wife get through a third degree program right now

For work I build Atlas amp stands out of hardwood by hand:
http://www.atlas-stands.com

I love the 335 style guitars and all tube amps.

One of these days I hope to build my own amplifier, own an off-the-shelf amp stand company, ride a tour bike and wear decent cloths:)

Thanks for the forum, I hope to get to know many of you as things progress.

Kind Regards,
Josh Childers

Welcome Josh,

Those are some fine looking amp stands you build, do you own the company? I love doing woodwork but don't have the talent that you obviously have with wood. There is a DIY forum here at GAB and your talents would be welcome I'm sure.

I have built a number of amps in past years, as has some of the other guys here. When you are ready to build your first amp you can get plenty of support and advice from the guys here. Just grop by the DIY forum when the time comes.

Hi Casey4s, thank you Sir. Yes, I own half of the company with my high school buddy who plays bass. I'll check out the DIY forum more tonight when I get back home. TY for the info.

I'll come calling with questions when I kick off the amp building...that will likely be a hobby for down the road once my kids are grown and moved out and I can spread my stuff out and it stay where I left it :)

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks, it's a lot of fun building for my fellow guitarists. Now I just have to find the time to get back in a band and use one regularly myself...l :rawk: ol

I am assuming that you custom built the hardwood amp cabinet I see in some of your photos. You could probably do a decent business in custom building nice cabinets like that. A lot of DIY guys want nice cabinets but don't have access to cabinet making tools or a pace to set up shop. Just a thought.

I have built a couple from Black Walnut, but my craftsmanship doesn't begin to compare with yours, nice work. :thu:

Hi Casey, thanks, yes I built it. It's sassafras and curly maple built around my vintage Ampeg RR2. I do like building cabs, still a bit new to it, but it is cool. I could make amp cabs if I had chassis and speaker dimensions no problem, but not quickly. Nothing I do right now is fast
